Billed as the best curry house in the city of York, we were keen to try it out. So we booked a table on the Sunday night we stayed. The restaurant was busy and the food did not disappoint. I certainly have had worse but also had better. What we could no fault was the impeccable service and knowledge of the staff. Booking strongly advised!
Absolutely wonderful experience at Bengal Brasserie, staff (our waiter was called Saf) were friendly, professional and knowledgeable from the start, making recommendations and finding us a table as I'd not booked ahead.
The food was made fresh to order, quick and honestly the best curry I've had!! Will definitely recommend to friends and return soon 👍

We opted for the special mixed starter which comes out sizzling in a pan, would highly recommend over the standard poppadoms.
For the main we went with a "connoisseur choice" and it had great depth of flavour and just a little heat. As always we paired it off with aloo gobi saag (potato, cauliflower and spinach) which always goes down very well.
The dessert menu is decent and offers some authentic Indian dishes such as kulfi.
My partner and I usually pop in when we're in York, which can be multiple times a month! That's how good it is :D

This was by far the best Indian meal I've ever had! The food was perfectly cooked, delicious, and filling. Service was superb from Saf and Jay. Both absolute gentleman. If you're in York, you simply have to visit this restaurant! I will definitely return! 10/10 Stupendous!
Me and my wife ate here before when in york and were thrilled we managed to find the restaurant again years later. Food and service were just as good as before, my only negative was being charged £5 .50 service charge on the bill. Bit much for a couple if pensioner's I thought.
Had a lovely meal last night for our friends birthday. Food was exceptional best Indian I have ever had. Waiter Saf was excellent and ensured we had a brilliant night. Will definitely be visiting again soon .
I'm not into Indian food whatsoever, but having walked past this restaurant one evening after already eaten, the smells were awesome. We visited the next evening. Was able to choose from a list of mild dishes. My partner, who is more adventurous, ordered a lamb dish with more spice. I loved my choices but loved her choice even more than mine. Definitely converted.
Went for the first time yesterday and I must admit the service was 5 star. First of we struggled for parking so I asked Saf if he knew any parking? He said I could park in the back where the staff park. Asked Saf what he suggested from the menu and he gave me some advice. He said everything was fresh so could modify anything. I chose a traditional dish but to make it very hot as I do like a hot spicy food. It was a lamb dish and really nice. Saf and the rest of staff were very good and I even got a free drink afterwards. Lovely food and lovey staff. I would definitely go back. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the food but I will surely be back soon.
First time visiting this lovely family ran restaurant. From entering we were made very welcome. Service was amazing and the food was delicious. Saj the waiter was excellent. If your in York it's definitely worth a visit. Complimentary drink before leaving was also a lovely gesture. We'll be back.👍👍
