Visiting York for my birthday weekend..when first entering this little place I was put off by how small it was…(did suggest to my partner we should go somewhere else) What a mistake that would of been….What’s the saying..great things come in small packages!!! The food was absolutely amazing…freshly cooked whilst you wait (didn’t take long) waiter was constantly checking everyone had what they wanted….this place is a gem 💎 100% recommended…Thank you for a beautiful meal ❤️
Great value lunch menu, main , drink and side for £8.95 and upgrade to large for an extra £2. Portions are huge and the food is authentic. I have lived in Thailand and the chefs are incredible, ignore the bad reviews.

Small hidden gem in York. Authentic tasty Thai . Interior is squishy but adds to the street food atmosphere. The food came fast fresh and hot ! Highly recommend
Small place with huddled tables and a constant footfall. Food tastes fresh and absolutely delicious . Service was good too. Will b back
Lunch menu well priced
Nice Thai restaurant in the heart of York. Cooked by Thai chef and all dishes taste pretty much Thai.
My favourite Thai experience, the restaurant it's self is very small but tidy and clean.
The food is absolutely amazing, I've honestly never had better Thai food anywhere else, if I'm in York I'm getting either lunch or dinner from here!
Wholeheartedly recommend.
A small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and music playing. The server, Ben, was friendly and explained the menu to me and my friend. We were both impressed with the restaurant's decor. The portions were big and the lunchtime deal was good value for money. I would definitely return.
I love the atmosphere! Went by myself and this is a great place if you wanna dine alone haha probably only about 6 tables in the restaurant. Thai music playing in the background, great lighting, I loved it. The owner/waiter was very friendly, I asked for recommendation cos there were too many choices…
Ended up ordering Pad Gra Pow with prawn, max spiciness, and Thai milk tea. I regret ordering max spicy level, was really really spicy. This is so far my favourite place in York, quite a hidden place.
One of my absolute favourite places to eat in York! Mommy Thai is perfect for takeaways and to eat in, and I've literally never had a bad experience in all the years I've been enjoying their amazing authentic Thai food. The restaurant has such a cozy, personal vibe, and I can't recommend the pandan milk tea enough <3
My friend admitted he has never had Thai food before so I couldn't stand for that and looked around for the best place to take him, that happened to be Mommy Thai.
There are only around 6 tables in the place. So best to book ahead. Food is incredible, some of the best Thai I have had.
We all shared the starters about so we could try some of each I enjoyed the pork skewers the best as the sauce was an umami tangy flavour.
I had chicken Phad Thai for my main and shared with my partner as she has the duck (can't remember the name of the main she had, just that it was duck!)
I think my friend is now a Thai convert as he loved it too.
Even for all this food, the price was incredibly reasonable. Only £75 for four mains, starters, and drinks!
