Exceptional spot for tea & a scone! Don’t be fooled by the small interior when you first walk in, there multiple several floors with plenty of seating if you fancy dining in. The scones are soft and crumbly with crispy edges. Pair with clotted cream, preserves & a personal pot of tea for under £10pp. Staff were friendly & service was prompt. Great spot to visit especially on a rainy day!

Highly recommend if you visit York, I ordered scone and a piece of carrot cake. Both exceeded my expectation with reasonable price.

This is a great little café in the centre of York. They have amazing scones: great flavour and great consistency.
Very good coffee and good hot chocolate.
The members of staff were nice and attentive as well.
The atmosphere is pretty cool; a very old little house with super classic vibes. You get some sun in the morning for breakfast; and nice views of the narrow streets from the windows.
Recommended!!
PS: I actually enjoyed this place more than the other one with a big name and a big queue to get in (the one that starts with a B). So if you’re having difficulty choosing, go for this one.

A lovely quirky and quaint place to enjoy scones, cake, coffee and tea in the historic 14th century shambles of York. We love the cosy and interesting interior and the friendly atmosphere by lovely staff who look after you as you stay.
Will be returning many times in the future.

Definitely coming again to try the cakes! In general, it is a lovely place to have a coffee date - plus, it's next to Shambles market. So you get all that rich atmosphere.
New update some months later: still in love with this place. Tried for the first time cinnamon scones. Absolutely beautiful.

Yum yum and yum. The apple cinnamon scone is really good on a colder autumn day. What better place to enjoy your delights than in a building several hundred years old. I will return.

This is a really cute tea and scone shop located between the market and Shambles. I've eaten upstairs once which was delightful, but usually I pop in to buy a couple of scones to take away. The staff are always so friendly and the scones are out of this world.

Awesome place. Very rare to be in a building like this. Lovely staff and tasty scones. The queue for Betty’s tea rooms was too long and we found our way here. Very glad we did!
