We ate here last night and what a lovely evening we had. Staff were very welcoming and the food was to die for! Although it was quite busy we were never left too long, food and drinks kept flowing. One of the best Italians I've eaten at, recommend this to anyone visiting York.
This small restaurant is friendly and well run, food was fantastic, service was efficient and we were made to feel welcome and unrushed. I would highly recommend this place, definitely worth a visit x
We ordered the calzone, risotto di mare, gnocchetti alla campidanese, and ravioli di carne rosalba. Food and service was excellent. The place/atmosphere made me think I was in Italy 🇮🇹 Price was also reasonable. We had such a nice experience that we decided to go there again the next night/our final night in York before leaving.
My beautiful wife and I visited Mama Mia's in August 2023 and what an absolute gem! An authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of York. The owners were very friendly, very accommodating and happy to recommend dishes.
We ordered a cheesy garlic bread pizza, the Ravioli flavoured with lobster sauce and the Gnocchetti. All dishes were fantastic and their Tiramisu was delicious. A truly fantastic place for good, homely authentic Italian food. Would 100% recommend if you visit York.

Fantastic. The burrata cheese was so fresh my senses took me to Southern Italy. In my opinion the best Italian restaurant in York at the moment, just like I used to see n the 80's and 90's with that accompanying smell too from. The kitchen.

If I lived locally to York this would officially be my new favourite restaurant. The atmosphere felt like sitting in a little café on the streets of Italy and the food was authentic and delicious. The Lasagna Al Forno was the best I've ever had!
Had a wonderful birthday meal at Mamma Mia last night. The staff were always there as soon as you needed them and the food was excellent. They looked after my mother and we found a good place to hide her walking aid. Toilets were very clean. I really enjoyed my birthday surprise.
Mothers 70 Birthday. 10 of us including grand kids. Food was great. Service authentically italian/European. Friendly but professional no fluff just good service and left alone to enjoy meal
Excellent food, well presented and absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection ! The portion sizes for the starters were the same as mains , huge. house wine was recommended and was very nice, the chef here really knows what he is doing, it's all authentic Italian food, the service is very professional yet warm and personal, the desserts were also absolutely delicious. 5 stars from us and we shall definitely be back.

Cosy, traditional Italian restaurant on Gillygate. Had a really nice meal, the pizza was delicious and the tiramisu was divine. Service was relaxed but attentive and the restaurant had a nice lively atmosphere. Would definitely go again
