Food was very good and filling. They serve sunday roast and it was spot on because we were starving when we came in. The menu isn't too big, but just right to have some diversity, but not give you choice problems. The staff was very nice and helpful. Even the bathrooms were clean and nice.

Came for a whisky tasting event, had some food beforehand. Amazing classic pub food to choose from, not a huge menu which helps when making a choice. The staff are very friendly and helpful with their advice! We will be coming again when we're next in York.

Great menu, great staff, great service. And it's dog friendly which is always good to see. Staff wise, there was one particular waitress (I didn't catch her name) who was constantly smiling and looked genuinely chuffed to be there :) Which is always a good sign!

This has been a favourite haunt for several years when visiting York. A convenient first or last stop from York station and also close to good quality budget hotels. It has a comfortable vibe and always has a great real ale and craft ale selection. We have eaten here several times as well. Always go
Good food, good beer, great company. My friends and I meet up here once every few months or so and we stay pretty much all day. We are never made feel pressured to leave, no matter how busy it is and the staff are always fantastic.
