Hong Kong Chop House

A fantastic family meal! We had booked a table for 7pm and arrived on the dot, there wasn’t any other customers in at that point so we got seated and served straight away. We browsed the menu and ordered quite a few different dishes, our drinks came straight away and the food wasn’t much longer! The aromatic duck starter was lovely however there wasn’t enough wraps, we were maybe 2-3 short of what we needed, it would also be nice to see bigger duck portion options as you can only order 1/4 crispy duck. Our mains arrived shortly after, all of which looked, smelled and tasted amazing. The place started to fill up and before we knew it there wasn’t a table empty which is great to see! Some of the dishes are a little pricey but honestly the taste and portion sizes make up for it! We live 3 hours away from York and are already planning our next trip so that we can come back to Hong Kong Chop House for another delicious Chinese feast! Keep up the great work.

It could do with a bit of an upgrade. However, I found the staff really friendly and the food was really nice. Hot and sour soup was fantastic. The mains we shared were just as good. I also thought it was reasonably priced. When we left, there wasn't a seat in the place, and people took our table straight away. That speaks volumes to me.

Couldn't have been happier to have found this place during our trip to York. The food was great, service was quick and they explained things to us well. For what we got, it was incredibly reasonable. It was such a comfort during the cold winter to have hot, delicious food. Will definitely head back here if I'm back in York

I don’t normally say this but I truly enjoyed the food. ⭐️ As someone so used to eating Asian food since birth, I approve of this. Probably on my top list of Chinese restaurants in York now. 💫 Have already recommended it to friends, so that is a good sign. I shall definitely return! 😁 The only minor critic I have would be the incorrect spellings of some words in the menu and the siumai that could’ve been steamed slightly longer. Apart from that I think everything was lovely — great and good amount of food, not too expensive, clean, cosy interior design and atmosphere, attentive and polite staff. ❤️We also appreciate that some of the stuff in the menu are homemade (noodles were wonderful!) and that they use loose leaf tea instead of teabags. 🙏 As big tea enthusiasts, this is something we really appreciate. We’ve been to other Chinese restaurants who use teabags only and that was a huge turn off. All kinds of people come here — groups, couples, singles; I think the place is just inviting and cosy that you don’t feel awkward and intimidated if you go there alone. Thank you for the lovely dining experience and I hope to come back again soon. 💫
