The Old White Swan - York - Photo album

We had the Steak and Ale pie, and the Chicken Truffle pie. Both were enjoyed. Atmosphere was nice, a slightly more upscale feeling pub. The food did take quite a long time to arrive, although it was busy, it didn't seem so busy that we should have had to wait for 35 minutes for its arrival. If the
A truly lovely experience! This age-old building has a vintage interior but lots of windows for light to come in so it doesn’t feel gloomy and dark. The staff were extremely friendly. The fried chicken breast was a bit too salty for me but the brownie was out of this world!!! Absolutely delicious 😋😋
Booked the restaurant for a family meal to celebrate my daughter running the York Marathon, pub has a great position in the centre of York, once we got to the Old White Swan we were warmly greeted and shown to our table, very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were very attentive checking eve
Pleasant find, recently refurbished to a high standard, the pub has some interesting history to it. Lovely little courtyard area ideal for summer day's & nights. Good menu of "pub grub" classics, staff were friendly, attentive, fast service. Looking forward to our next visit
Never disappointed with this pub . Food great, lovely friendly staff , immaculate men toilets, worth a mention, wife said the ladies toilets were very good. The atmosphere was pleasant and the whole building, courtyard and beer garden are worth looking at.
First place we visited in York for food and drinks. Was really nice. Tasty food, nice atmosphere, back yard was good place too and more quite as we wanted to relax after long journey.
Look it's a chain, we found at least 3 pubs in York serving exactly the same menu, but their pie is good 🤷 Had the steak and ale, award winning, pie and it was very decent, in particular the pastry was OMG good and the Torontela Rioja was great value for money. Wife asked for a slight change to her
Excellent food, we went twice on our trip to York. Really nice atmosphere too.
Brilliant fine in York. Loved the outdoor seating area and the food was brilliant. Service was super quick and friendly too. Sweet potato & goats cheese pie was great.
Very old pub amazingly well maintained. All wooden structures still in solid state.
Lovely atmosphere, quite family friendly. Food has all been absolutely delicious with a good selection of drinks. Highly recommend the chicken and mushroom pie (or any of the pies) but also some of their small bar dishes are great too.
Great food and friendly staff! We always go back on our trips to York!
Really lovely pub/restaurant. Lots of things to see and different areas to sit, including the front courtyard and a rear garden. Would advise booking if you want to actually eat in the 'restaurant' area. Food was really good - we had the fish platter and a portion of chips to share - which was more
Wonderful cosy, festive atmosphere, beautifully decorated for Christmas! We had the game pudding and the chicken pie, and they were sublime with the creamy mash potatoes! Great beer and gin too.
Great pub with a lovely ambience! Came in for a meal and a drink two weeks ago and had a fantastic time. The nourish bowl was really good but would have loved to see a vegan topping for it (but was pretty great on its own!). There’s a few other veggie/vegan options though and other items on the menu
Lovely pub that has just had a stunning refurb, even spoke to the General Manager Luke behind the bar who happily spent time talking to us. We used to frequent the cross keys down the road. I think we've found a new regular for when in York!
Really brilliant classic pub with a cosy feel and brilliant traditional food. They specialised in different pies which came with steamed greens, mash and gravy. We ordered 6 different pies between our group and they were all praised. Would certainly come back here. If you worry it might be busy, y
