Excellent meal, decent price! Friendly staff. There was a temporary issue with the draught so I can’t comment on the beers. Ladies toilets were also closed so the men’s were being used as unisex temporarily, meaning no urinals. Recommend though as food was decent. Oh, and it is NOT a Wetherspoons!!
The pies are delicious! Very good food. Great location in the center of York with a beautiful building. I had a fun time with friends!

Multiple rooms to this old Inn, good selection of beers and menu was really good to, only had a light lunch but this was tasty.
Air conditioning on which was nice and quick and speedy service from pleasant bar staff.

Cosy pub right in the heart of York. Good ales and more contemporary drinks. Food is good for standard pub fare and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere in a traditional city. One of my favourite pubs in York.
Went there with a friend yesterday. We both had the fish pie which was delicious, we then had the orange prosecco meringue tart which was also very good. Friendly efficient service. All in all a good experience. Neither of us had been before, but would definitely go back there again when visiting York.
Historical, excellently located in the innermost centre of York. They offer a good discount if you bring in the tourist guide that you can get at the bus or hotel for free. The food was great. We shared a Fish Platter (starter) and a Game Suet Pudding (main), the pie was deliciously filled with a rich stew beautifully concocted of pheasant, venison and partridge; and the fish Platter was very good and offering a variety of goujons, scampi, shrimps, smoked salmon, crab and fish cakes, etc. The atmosphere as well was enjoyable. Only the serving staff was a bit rude for starters, luckily they later realized that my request was totally valid and came to the table to explain themselves and offer and apology. Overall we had a lovely dinner and drinks evening.
