Toby Inns naturally are geared up for carvery and if that's what you like then this is the place for you. If you want something a bit lighter the choices are somewhat limited.
It was difficult to get the attention of the staff and we had to wait at times but the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed.
It's easy to get to if driving but we walked from the nearby York Caravan Park along a very busy road with no footpaths in places so beware.
We did enjoy our meal, although we would have been happy with something lighter, and ended up enjoying the evening.
First time to a Toby Carvery in many years. Turning up late on a Thursday night, I have to admit that my expectations weren't high. However, it was a 10/10 experience and I shall definitely be back.
The Carvery was hot and delicious. Yorkshire's were the best I've ever had and whilst I was expecting the gravy to be insipid (I'm a self confessed gravy snob) it was really flavourful.
Both Michael on the Carvery and Leah our waitress were friendly and helpful throughout and really made our evening a lovely experience.
I have only put 4 stars for the atmosphere, but this is purely because we turned up late on a Thursday night and in no way a reflection on the members of staff.
Shall definitely be back when next dropping our uni student off. Speaking of which, I would imagine this place is an absolute gem for students looking for a tasty and student budget friendly roast.
Myself and a friend found this restaurant while travelling from monk's Cross.
I have lactose intolerance and sometimes find it difficult finding something on a menu im able to eat.
The staff were extremely helpful ensuring I had everything they prepared my mash without butter or milk.
The meats were cooked to perfection an the vegetables were hot and fresh with plenty of choice.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
