Cross Keys Inn

Working down in York for the week. Happened to stumble into a cracker of a pub. Arrived on Sunday evening at the hotel. Took the 2 min walk along the road to try here for some food and a couple of pints. Very friendly welcome. It was really busy but the staff kindly got me a table for dinner at a slightly later time. Not a problem. Locals were nice and friendly too. The place just has a nice atmosphere about it. The food was excellent. I can't fault anything. Food is that good, I've eaten every night of the week bar 1. The mixed grill is definitely one to try. Like I say, a good honest pub.

Stopped by on Monday evening for a spot of food after a busy day sightseeing I’ve seen this pub in the past and always thought it looked like a nice pub. I am so glad we decided to call in! Parking at the rear was plentiful & easily accessible Welcomed warmly by the bar staff - it was great to see that dogs are welcome in the place as well We are a family of three and found plenty of choices for the food. Staff happily accommodated a couple of small “tweaks” to the meals like jacket instead of chips etc. They can pour Guinness correctly!😁 Been a fair while since I’ve seen bar staff let Guinness stand before topping it up the way it ought to be be. That was the first tell we’d found a gem The food was ample and delicious! It’s been a long time since I enjoyed pub food so much! Next time we’re in York we’ll be calling back in! Only small fault I can find is that there was no check back on the meals. In our case everything was perfect so not an issue for us. We stopped here for 1 night in Campervan , lovely friendly pub , near to Race course in York. The Cross Keys was very friendly and accommodating. We rang and booked ahead and had a nice evening meal and drinks there , we are vegetarian but there were some nice choices. Staff were friendly and worked hard. It is a dog friendly pub and there is a nice outside sunny terrace with tables. York City Centre took about 35 mins to walk into from the pub, it is on a bus route but we got a taxi back . Thankyou

Top marks for a top team. Visiting from Sheffield and really pleased that we visited twice. Lovely staff, so helpful and inviting. Good atmosphere. Great choice of drinks. Had two fabulous meals, fresh, well presented and delicious. No problems with hygiene....really clean place. Management and staff obviously care about their business...and it shows. Will be sure to visit again when visiting York again. Thank you. x
