My girlfriend and I visited and really enjoyed our food. We were seated straight away and served soon after. The food and service was great and we would definitely like to return. Highly recommend!

A fantastic family meal!
We had booked a table for 7pm and arrived on the dot, there wasn’t any other customers in at that point so we got seated and served straight away.
We browsed the menu and ordered quite a few different dishes, our drinks came straight away and the food wasn’t much longer!
The aromatic duck starter was lovely however there wasn’t enough wraps, we were maybe 2-3 short of what we needed, it would also be nice to see bigger duck portion options as you can only order 1/4 crispy duck.
Our mains arrived shortly after, all of which looked, smelled and tasted amazing.
The place started to fill up and before we knew it there wasn’t a table empty which is great to see!
Some of the dishes are a little pricey but honestly the taste and portion sizes make up for it!
We live 3 hours away from York and are already planning our next trip so that we can come back to Hong Kong Chop House for another delicious Chinese feast!

Tucked away, this hidden treasure is definitely worth a visit. It’s my go to York restaurant and it never lets me down. Great service, authentic menu, the best service and good value. I recommend the satay chicken and the crispy pork soy garlic sauce.

Real Chinese food and tasty. Not too may people on Sunday, but other days could be busy. Main dishes are averagely at around £12 to £17 each with reasonable size.

Absolutely delicious food that was served hot and fresh, extremely quickly! My only issue that it’s a bit pricey, although with the outstanding quality of food, it’s well worth it

Awesome food and service! My partner and i got got 5spice ribs, a main dish to share, and 2 bowls of rice, and it was the perfect amount of food. Wait staff was really nice. Atmosphere was very calm and cozy :)

It could do with a bit of an upgrade. However, I found the staff really friendly and the food was really nice.
Hot and sour soup was fantastic. The mains we shared were just as good. I also thought it was reasonably priced. When we left, there wasn't a seat in the place, and people took our table straight away. That speaks volumes to me.

We visit York once or twice a year and this is one of the restaurants we frequent. Most of the diners are Asian so that's a testament to the authenticity of the dishes. I love how diverse the menu is (Sichuan, Cantonese, Taiwanese, Hakka) and most importantly, not one single dish has ever disappointed us.

Went here with my 7 year old son whilst visiting York. We were both very impressed with the food (His favourite food in the world is King Prawns and noodles so high praise indeed)
All of the food we ordered was very tasty with good portion sizes and delivered hot and very quickly.
The menu was extensive with many very traditional Chinese dishes as well as lots of more familiar items.
The staff waiting on could not have been any more accommodating and friendly towards us.
Would highly recommend Hong Kong Chop House to anyone looking for a Chinese meal whilst in York centre
