Coming here is like stepping into my own front room, it's so cute and cosey. I'm so, so happy when I come here it's unreal. The cafe offers a wonderful selection of cakes, toasties and sandwiches and tasty snacks. 😋 the staff are incredibly welcoming. There is a rail of clothes which you can take if you arent in a position to purchase your own gender confirming clothes. Lovely bookshop downstairs too with a great selection and they support local artists. Couldn't be better. ♥️

What a wonderful place! Stumbled across it and just love the atmosphere!!! They have all sorts of stim toys and books to look at while you’re there! The owner Rachel is lovely. We sat and talked for over an hour. The (gf!!!!) rainbow cake was delicious!!!

Really good and accepting place. Nice atmosphere. Bought a nice fantasy book from the book store half downstairs, went up and had a chilled Pepsi Cola with ice from fridge and hung-out with a couple of friends. The others had some zesty lemonade cans, and one had a Rainbow cake. It was really fluffy and had great texture - which is very hard to achieve on a cake with so many layers. It was a great pitstop for our city visit, and amazing to see the open progress and powerful messaging throughout the business. An excellent place to have lunch right after shopping at the Markets and seeing the Shambles.

The loveliest café in York. Cozy and very laid-back vibe, like stepping in your own living room with friends and a cup of coffee. Try their delicious cold brews and cakes!!

The cafe is hugely welcoming and serves excellent flag cakes, coffee and toasties. I love the fact it has free clothing for people that may not necessarily have access to gender affirming clothing. Even having a pay it forward scheme for those going through financially troubling times. All the staff have been incredibly friendly every time ive been in. Ive been to a couple of events theyve put on, on an evening and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Keep helping the community!

I had such a lovely time here. I came in tired and needing a latte, and I met very lovely people who immediately chatted me up. Rachel has made this such a safe place and I felt like I could stay there for hours. Hopefully I can come back one day!

An amazing little find in York. An LGBT+ cafe. The owner was amazing and discussed how she got involved and why she created it. The cakes and cupcakes were amazing as with the atmosphere. Also great to know the house rules, the story behind it all and even the small hairdressers to the side of it. Amazing feel and atmosphere. Prices weren't too bad. Definitely a place for LGBT+ to feel safe. Just a shame it feels hidden behind a bookshop but apart from that, lovely.

I visited with 5 friends and we loved this place! From the moment you walk in to the beautiful book shop on the ground floor you're given the warmest welcome. The cafe is upstairs and has a really relaxing vibe and cosy feel. It's a really friendly place and the cake and coffee was delicious. I LOVED that there were different cakes that represented a range of LGBTQ+ flags. So nice to be in such an inclusive LGBTQ+ space. I'm looking forward to the next visit. 😊

York needed this so much! Lunar Cafe is not only super cosy but treats and coffee are delicious. Brownies are vegan AND gluten free 🤩😍 so perfect for my tummy. Neli is very friendly as well. It’s so cool to finally have a queer coffee shop for the LGBTQ+ community. Also it’s like a double treat to come by, stop to wander around at The Portal Book Shop and then pop in at Lunar Cafe for cake and coffee. 🏳️‍🌈🦄
