Been here 3 evenings in 1 week on my visit to Arundel with my friend. It used to be my local pub back when I lived in Arundel. The interior has changed a bit, but very nice. We had great food and the girl serving as that evening was absolutely fantastic. Very thoughtful and friendly. Also met some nice locals the other night. Dog friendly pub with great food and chill athmosphare. Loved it, will be back :)

My lower star for the room is because the bathroom is a bit tired and water pressure low BUT there was a lovely team of builders there upgrading it all so think this will be resolved.
For the price this is a fantastic option for staying in Arundel. Staff are loved. Breakfast great. Will be our go to for Arundel staycations!

Lovely meal out for our kids! Friendly staff and were super generous to send us home with a bottle of milk for the kids after I asked where the closest shop was. Bedtime disaster averted!

Had a lovely stay at the St Mary's Gate Inn. Staff were very friendly & the pub had a lovely atmosphere. They even let us leave our bags on our last day!

We stayed one night, lovely staff, the food both a lunch and breakfast was good. Room was ok, it needs a little tlc, but was fine for a last minute trip.
The bed was comfortable, but walking up the hill is not for the unfit.
Would happily stay again.

Stopped over twice during a long weekend in Arundel. Food was great and can't go wrong with the fish finger sandwich. Staff were friendly and very attentive.

We popped into this historic pub for a cheeky pint and it was actually very pleasant with decent snacks behind the bar. Always nice to visit a new pub wherever possible and I was pleased with my sudden decision.
The pub itself was actually built in 1525 which, if my memory serves me correctly was the 26th year of Henry VIII, though we cannot forget that it featured a thatched roof and was a farm dwelling.
Moreover, the building itself was owned by - and you won’t believe it - a stonemason, a linen draper (of all things!) and a vintner named Gabriel Scott (think this was in 1735).
Did you know that, after Henry Macket became landlord in March 1764, beer was actually served in jugs called Brown Georges?
Anyway, this place has always remained a traditional inn and is now owned by Hall & Woodhouse.
Sorry if I missed out any details, my memory sometimes fails me.
