Good value drinks and food specials. Well run and decent crowd. Very busy at weekends. Student night is Wednesday when it's not too full but not dead either.
A good place to start if you are visiting the town. Food served all day till late.
Located right in the centre of town down the hill from Barnsley town hall (Market hill).
Would have been rude to ignore this fairly typical Town Centre Spoons. A large floor plan over two levels is not immediately apparent. There is a lovely courtyard drinking area as well for those rare sunny days. As always great value and Madge used one of her 50p off CAMRA vouchers to make it even better value. Thus my Thunder Bird from Glamorgan brewery cost me £2.05 for a pint.
Should call this place The Tardis because what you see on the outside isn't what you get on the inside!!!! If it wasn't a Wetherspoons I wouldn't have gone in from the outside view. But once your in it's spacious with lots of wood panelling ,beautiful rooms upstairs and nice atmosphere. It has an outside area in the middle of the building which I was amazed it had .But more importantly the staff were friendly and efficient...one of the places you should definitely not judge a book by it's cover .If your shopping in Barnsley well worth a visit!!!!
Popped in for a breakfast with workmates and it took a fair while to be served at the bar as no staff around. The hot drinks are on a self serve basis, but the food arrived in good time once ordered, and was tasty. Was very odd to receive a veggie breakfast with just one mushroom! LOL. Gave a good start to the day.
As a regular to this place, I totally love the hot wings, the loaded chips, the pizzas and the burgers. The prices are affordable and loads of offers to choose from. Unfortunately the tables are always dirty and sticky, staff doesn’t have the time to clean between costumers. Atmosphere can sometimes be noisy, but considering it’s a pub, it’s something normal.
Usually go in here on match days for a meal & a drink. Nice place always busy, even more so yesterday due to the other weatherspoons being closed, it was rammed. Staff always helpful, but only 1 behind bar, really needs 2 now. Downside yesterday was menu, the print was so small you couldn't read it even with glasses on, staff did say it was an error, let's hope it's sorted quick.
A great meeting place for some 'ol friends . Looks quite small from the front but like a tardis, it opens up into a massive space on two floors with big beer garden. Ideally located for visitors like me to Barnsley, I practically feel a local!
It is a good sized Wetherspoons with additional seating upstairs with its own bar area. Drinks are well priced. Also has a decent outside are for smoking or in the good weather
Get in for a family gathering most Sunday evenings, we don't have food and make our own atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced, but staff could be a little more enthusiastic.
Arrived as a table of 30+ (did offer to pre order/book in advance, wasnt an option).
Once ordered food came swiftly considering the amount of meals, only gripe was where we were seated was in the main gang way too and from the kitchen, as you can imagine 40th birthday ,many kids, felt like we were in the way constantly and working in hospitality I feel I was more aware of it than most. Plus had to sit upstairs in the end and the disabled access was out of order. Meaning granny was escorted upstairs.
Nice outside area but full of smokers so not so nice. Went inside a bit dark and dreary
Early dinner and we ordered pizzas which were surprisingly good!
