Wow! This was our first time here and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
The service, the venue and the food were all outstanding. We had the sharing platter and I’m not exaggerating when I say that every bite was delicious.
I already wanna go back!

Nice little steak restaurant in Bath. Make sure you book as quite small but a nice and cosy little place.
Ordered the platter and the steak was good quality and flavoursome. Would add that portions are quite small, even for two people but we were three people so added prawns and veg and more chips. The prawns were really good but would be good for one or two more. Did ask for medium rare too but steak was more medium, not too much of an issue for us as normally have it medium but thought would try different.
All in all a good place but portions could be a little bigger. The wine jus sauce was really good and service was also good.

Was nice enough! Got the legendary platter and the steak was a bit overcooked. Also thought the portion was quite small for the price- thought we would get two portions of chips as the platter was for two people, overall pretty good.

This place is a strong 4.5 & I'd visit again. The walk down is a little creepy, but it's so worth it. The food & service were really good.

Fantastic fillet steak and blue cheese sauce, one of the best steak houses in the area. Staff very accommodating, good intervals between serving courses so you don't feel rushed and can enjoy the evening. Evening on street parking available nearby, around a 5-10 minute walk. A couple of good pubs in the area if you fancy a pre dinner drink.

We went last night for our 10th wedding anniversary trip away. Really glad we picked this restaurant! The service was brilliant, staff were great. The food was absolutely amazing. The steak was one of the best we've ever had. Note, we had a delicious wine here, think they've got a little gem of a restaurant. Thank you for helping to make our meal extra special.

Absolutely fantastic!!!
I was celebrating my birthday with my wife on a weekend away to the city, and this was a perfect birthday dinner!
It is a lovely quirky location, down multiple corridors and stairs until you finally reach the restaurant.
The team were so friendly and welcoming.
The food was brilliant. We each ordered the 8oz fillet with fries and shared a couple of sides. Everything was cooked perfectly (and I can be fussy with my steak) and the quality was excellent.
The team were attentive without without being a nuisance and always so friendly.
We finished with coffees as we couldn't possibly have squeezed in a dessert, before leaving through the other entrance at the Riverside for a much needed stroll to work off such a wonderful meal.
I wish I could score them 6 out of 5!

Great service and very good location. Diverse menu with wide pricing range. I thought all was really delicious. I don't give 5 starts as my fillet steak was well cooked rather than medium as ordered, but would come back. Good wine selection as well.

Absolutely love the steaks. Ordered the legendary, pepper corn sauce, with prawns. Went home stuffed! Staffs are really nice as well (Karl and Lulu). Just a bit dark inside but I think that's just their vibe. :)

We had an amazing meal here for a friend's birthday. The steaks were generous and cooked to perfection (a multitude of steaks and preferences) and the staff were friendly and attentive, props to them for making us feel welcome and looked after.
Not the cheapest meal by any means but well worth the cost. We left happy, satisfied and stuffed!

We ‘walked-in’ during a birthday getaway in Bath. Welcomed to a table and experienced nothing short of great hospitality from Karl.
Drink choices were plentiful, served with ice and garnish. The char-grilled chicken was beautiful and the porterhouse steak was just mouthwatering, both dishes were tender and full of flavour! Choices of different sides including truffle chips to name just one and all table sauces available too.
We were blown away by the atmosphere and the attentiveness during our visit. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and going the extra mile to celebrate with us! ❤️

I totally recommend any beef eaters to come to this restaraunt. Me and two other friends had the sharing platter and it was amazing. It comes with 3 steaks of different cuts and it was cooked to perfection. Really recommend getting medium rare on them.
With sides it came with chips and onions rings but we decided to swap it for the creamy spinach and we totally don't regret it. I totally recommend the creamy spinach it was yum 🥰.
The restaraunt was fully booked so do reserve in advanced so you won't be dissapointed. The tables are a little bit small so space is restricted when trying to cut things 😂. Since it's quite a busy restaraunt, I felt a little rush when it came to finishing and paying the bill but we didn't mind.

On recommendation of our hotel, we tried this steak house near the Pulteney Bridge and we were genuinely impressed.
Interesting decor, simple but welcoming. Service was good and the menu was straightforward.
We shared a steak platter with Filet, Sirloin and Rib Eye with a few sides.
Steak was cooked just right. Sides were plentiful and tasty and the sauces were spot on.
Definitely recommend a visit.

I'm so glad I found this restaurant! I wanted to find somewhere nice to eat the celebrate getting engaged to my now fiancé and going off the reviews I decided on The Herd. It has a small dining area so it feels quite personal and the atmosphere was great. The service and food were second to none, I can quite happily say this was the best steak I've eaten for many years! Karl was a very attentive host and made us feel very welcome. If I ever visit Bath again I will 100% be reserving a table!
You definitely need to bottle and sell the Red Wine Sauce too, it was incredible!!

Great steak house.
Staff were extremely friendly especially our server Carl.
Very welcoming environment and good atmosphere.
It's located deep underground so not super accessible but the cosy nature of the smaller area added to the charm.
Food was cooked lovely and at a very reasonable price compared to many other steak houses I have been to.

The best meal we have EVER eaten out. As a foodie I can 100% say that this was the best steak I have ever eaten, and the best restaurant I have been to. The service was amazing and so friendly which just made it even better. I couldn’t recommend this place enough and we will definitely be making a return.

Had such a lovely meal here. It's a bit of a hidden gem when looking for it on the street. Food was amazing, service friendly and fast. The sharing platter is good value for money and evidently popular (everyone seemed to be ordering it- rightly so)! The steaks were good to perfection. Buy the sauces- they were delicious (we had the peppercorn and red wine jus). Definitely recommend and we will be returning if we come to Bath again!
