Went their for a evening banquet. The staff were very welcoming when we first arrived. We were offered complimentary drinks whilst we sat in the waiting lounge until our table was ready.
The table was well decorated, and the food was especially good. A nice variety of breads, caviar and main courses, with a good choice of deserts to finish with.
Great place! Will be back again after the COVID crisis! :)
A stunning food. I've tried the 7 course tasting menu and the food was exceptional with the amazing matching wines with each course. The staff was amazing, knowledgeable and provided a detailed discretion for each course. I would definitely recommend the place.
If you want something with nice quiet environment and British food with an innovative twist... you won’t be regretting to seat on a table of it. We went there in 2018 and again in 2020. The food quality remains the on the top. It just had something very small but surprising flavour makes the dish ahead of the game. The bread is fantastic. Although it changed the pieces of the bread from 4 to 3 but the chess flavour increased from 2 to 3. The bread comes warm and nice texture melting with the chess perfectly. I really wish the servant would offer us another round of the bread... it sounds silly but you see how pleased I am with the complimentary bread. We had the tasting menu before and enjoyed it, it comes with quite a portion. Last night, we just had the pre theatre menu, limited choice but no disappointment. Will come back here again.
A perfect fine-dining Sunday lunch for two. Lovely food from start to finish, impeccably presented. Smoked Salmon was the standout starter. Main course was delivered with exacting precision with every element perfectly cooked and seasoned. Mains, The Blonde having the grilled plaice and myself the roast breast of chicken, probably the best roast dinner I have had, full stop. A well selected wine list, albeit I was later informed the wine I had chosen was unavailable. Full marks to Attila who stepped into the role of sommelier and offered an alternative with no commitment to keep if disliked. Safe to say it was a very memorable bottle of Peay Chardonnay from Sonoma. Lastly, the cheese board needs improving but still 5 stars due to value for money.
My dinner recommendation:
The scallop to start and the duck for main. 😋
Excellent service.
Pretty place
We try to go for drinks somewhere else around and came back to the restaurant's bar because of their service.
Great food and good service.
We went for an amazing dinner at The Gainsborough. It's a really comfortable atmosphere, not too formal or stuffy, but still classy. The food was brilliant (esp the scallop) and the service excellent.
We had the best experience here today. Food was excellent, we had the 3 course lunch menu and it was perfect - quality food with unexpected pairings but they all worked. They made a raspberry lemonade on request which really should be on the menu - it could not have been better, it was like drinking raspberries. Our waiter was friendly and professional. The place has a unique vibe, very relaxing, somehow smart and laid back at the same time. I couldn't fault anything about our lunch, would highly recommend the place.
