A lovely little coffee shop and very busy, we had an amazing lunch, very tasty and the cake selection is divine, will have to keep going back now to work my way through the menu, would highly recommend
A lovely little independent coffee shop. In addition to the range of lovely coffees, there is a range of delicious looking cakes and pastries. I was very tempted by the caramel topped bread and butter pudding, but managed to resist. They also serve a range of salads and sandwiches which all looked great. The shop sell interesting and good quality homewards. It's a must to visit if you are in this area.
I love this cafe. I’ve been coming every week for years. The food is first class but only open in the daytime. Staff are lovely and atmosphere easy going.
Just wonderful. The best cafe food and cakes for miles. Something magic goes into their food because it just feels so authentic and real, every time it's perfect. The team who work there are so friendly - I wish I could go more often!
If you want a big standard cheese toastie or jacket potato, this is not the place for you. From feta and brocoli parcels to Turkish salads, the food here is bursting with flavours from around the world and combined in wonderful ways.
A lunch here mostly looks like an interesting main piece served with 3 different salads. I had a spring roll which was cooked to perfection. The inside was soft and flavoursome and the pastry was firm but flaky. On the day I came there was a choice of 5 salads and picking 3 was difficult, but the 3 I got were all unique, tasty, healthy and well balanced with textures. My wife had a Brazillian soup with crusty bread. The soup was packed with vegetable chunks and she loved it.
The staff were polite and friendly. The food and drinks were brought efficiently but not too fast - we had time to enjoy the atmosphere and chat. The decor was homely and warm creating a lovely atmosphere. It was fairly busy and the background hubbub really added to the effect of the place.
There were loads of cakes and desserts but we were plenty filled up from the mains to need them.
There were a few small imperfections however. Firstly we ended up being sat by the door and every time it opened (which was probably 3 or 4 times a minute) a freezing gust of air hit us. Secondly there were a few items of food available that weren't on the menu and we didn't know they were available until after we'd ordered when I head a different waitress tell the table next to us about them. Thirdly it was a victim of its own success; full of people coming and going and wanting tables. These imperfections by no means ruined our experience - it was a lunch we'll worthy of 5 stars - but worth bearing in mind.
I'd say to arrive around 11:30 and get a table we'll into the cafe if you can.
Went here for the first time with my friend and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was lovely and the choice of food was amazing. Colourful salads, delicious sides , and so much choice! I had 3 cheese muffins with 3 salads which you get to choose. There were lots of wines, coffees and soft drinks to choose from, it also had a rather interesting array of gifts. The plate arrived and was colourful, tasty and very full! The staff are very friendly and helpful and parking was easy, just park along the street. I was very impressed with my first visit and will definitely be returning.
Visited a few times and we've never been disappointed. Fantastic selection of food and there's always something different to choose from. Lovely friendly service too!
Excellent service as always had a quick delicious toast and marmalade and heavenly oat latte
Friendly fantastic cafe ..food incredible
Absolutely love this little place, the service is top notch, the atmosphere is charming and the food is just SO good, every visit you are spoilt for choice, whatever you choose you will not be disappointed, superb. :)
This such a gem in the middle of a tiny village. Always a popular meeting place it seems. Both times that I have been here the food is delicious, looks wonderful, good portions and friendly staff. The coffee us very good and there's always a pleasant buzz about the place. Even the window displays are pretty too.
Just the most wonderful selection of tarts, quiches, frittatas and salads. Tempting tasty cakes top off a lovely meal every time. Come for lunch or just coffee and cake. Friendly staff that know every detail of the ingredients contained within their sumptuous treats, All hand made on the premises by culinary geniuses. My partner has been coming her quite regularly and was eager for me to try out the fantastic selection of edible delights. We finally made it there yesterday and it was definitely worth the trip. Beckington (on the doorstep of nearby Frome which in itself is becoming a foody destination) is very lucky to have this superb little gem on it's highstreet. They also carry and extensive range of wines and other drinks and have unusually many tableware and kitchen items for sale which form a backdrop on one side of the restaurant. There is outdoor seating when the weather is kind enough to do so. A minor detour if you are on your way to Frome and very well worth it. Thumbs up and five stars from me.
Amended 2022.... Unfortunately lacking in vegan options. Nothing on the breakfast menu. No cakes. No pastries. Maybe they ought to add some plant based items to accommodate those who don't want to cause animal suffering through their diet?
I quickly popped in for lunch with a few work colleagues. The food was delicious, (I had soup with a mouth-watering crusty sourdough bread), my colleagues had a variety of mains/salads. We all agreed the food was faultless. The decor is quirky and homely and the atmosphere was convivial but busy. I can't wait to go back, but this time I'll bring my partner.
