Scalini for good Italian in Belfast. Scalini is an Italian restaurant on Botanic Avenue in the middle of the student quarter near Queen's University. It has always been fairly busy when I have eaten there. The food is always good and sometimes quite excellent. I recently had a dish of seafood with linguine (linguine pescatora) that was really excellent, and just full of shellfish -- no skimping there. The wines are nice, and the Italian coffee is really good. The prices seem reasonable, and the service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is lively, with groups of young people and families. Overall a place to return to.
Great food at reasonable price. No wonder the restaurant was packed. However, it took 40' for the food to come out, which is too much waiting. We were surprised we didn't get the starter first, instead it came with the main courses
Fantastic Italian restaurant near to where we stayed in Belfast. Fantastic set up and felt like had been transported to Italy. Food was tasty, served in timely manner and wait staff friendly and helpful. So good we may come back for the second night of our stay
• Salmon with grilled vegs (peppers, onions, zucchini), lemon cream sauce with basil and sundried tomato dressing, salad, baby potatoes on the side
• Spaghetti carbonara with bacon and cream
• Meatballs with linguine and tomato sauce
• Chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream
• Crepes with chocolate and caramel sauce, whipped creamed and vanilla ice cream
Food was absolutely delicious, I recommend the salmon especially! Desserts lovely too. Portion sizes big and staff were friendly.
One of our favourite restaurants. Ambience, service and food, all good. Tables can be booked in advance. My chicken with bacon and stuffing in a mushroom sauce, side of garlic cubed potatoes...
Went here for dinner on a week night. Great wine selection, and many good typical Italian dish options. Apps and meals were all fantastic. Staff was friendly and prices were fair for the portion sizes. Would recommend for a good Italian joint while away from home.
Great food and great service, thank you for having us. Online said that they were fully booked, but for a table for 2 we walked in they managed to squeeze us in 😊
Lovely intimate restaurant for a romantic meal, the food was amazing. The nicest steak I've eaten in a while and the most beautiful mushroom sauce to go with it, my wife loves carbanara and said it was the best ! Also the deserts.... OMG !
Excellent restaurant experience. You're not going to get high-end food, but is 100% okay. The food is tasty, good portions, great value. Service was exceptional. And it was a pleasant to have a meal. If you're in management at Scalinis - credit to you for hiring the right people, training them properly, and maintaining a high standard. Give thanks to the serving staff too. Plus, the chefs and kitchen staff. All excellent.
One of the best restaurants by far I have been to, in terms of atmosphere, service and food quality - it is all easily the best. From the starter to the dessert, all food was fresh and delicious. Service was really amazing, as soon as we finished our plates were immediately taken away and the servers were kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is lovely, featuring a cozy and romantic Italian outdoor setting. We will 100% be returning for another amazing experience here
