We visited for Valentine’s Day and enjoyed the 9’course meal. Exceptional service from all staff and wonderful food. Certainly lives up to the hype and was worth every penny.

Our lovely friends bought us a Taster menu meal here as a Christmas present. As soon as you go in you feel at home as it has lovely modern decor in a lovely environment. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we had a good laugh with them and our friends all evening. We had nine courses of excellent food and felt nicely full but not uncomfortably full when we came out. There was a great mixture of different meat, fish, vegetables and deserts. Highly recommended and I would like to go back and choose my own food of their menu.

We have been a few times over the last few years for the tasting menu. It always delivers. The last time was for the Christmas tasting menu, which was amazing. Well worth a visit if you like this style of food.

How can a dining experience be so good? It starts with the food of course! All the produce is sourced from the right place: local cuts of meat, fish and crab where possible - but scallops from the west coast of Scotland and trout from Hampshire chalk streams: all makes good sense. Then the dishes themselves - a sublime combination of ingredients (roof garden and local allotments now in play), prepared to perfection: simply mouth watering. The flow of the tasting menus is always brilliant from the outstanding canapés (how does John the chef come up with such splendid ideas?), through all the courses to the final dessert, that simply adds to and completes the meal. However, that is not all. The staff are all cheerful, pleasant and attentive, the restaurant is not pretentious but individual and comfortable with enough space around. So the complete ambience only contributes to the fabulous food. If value-for-money has to be mentioned, then this too is exceptional. The food and experience are remarkable, for the price it is unbelievable. It is hard to want to eat elsewhere after visiting Whites. 5 stars is too little.

On the evening of our visit ( tuesday ) our party opted for the four course taster menu. Two of us had been before so we knew it would be excellent. The food is truly amazing. The combinations of ingredients and the skill in presentation must surely make this one of the best restaurants in the area. The young waiter was very good at explaining each dish and at the end of the meal,John, the chef came out and chatted to diners. We all had lovely evening. Needless to say we will return.

This was our 3rd visit to Whites & we took along some friends who had wanted to go for some time. We knew roughly what to expect but were still overjoyed with the whole experience which began with a friendly greeting when we walked through the door & an immediate feeling of relaxation & anticipation of some delicious dishes of food coming our way. The layout of the tables which are well spaced out means you are not crammed together & have to listen to other people's conversations which is a nice change. The service from the young waiters was impeccable with good explanations of each course. Nice & friendly too without being overbearing & nothing was too much trouble to ask for. Then the food, ah, the food. It is so hard to describe taste but every course was met by all 4 of our party with very satisfying oohs, mmmms & every descriptive word relating to amazing dishes that you can think of! Some delicious complimentary canapes to start & then the beautifully created & presented 9 course tasting menu. This was spread over about 3 1/2 hours which made for a very chilled relaxing evening out with good friends who also appreciate divine dishes of food, excellent cooking skills combined with a very pleasant ambience. Just the right amount of time between courses too & no feeling of being rushed out at the end of the evening. Some very drinkable, reasonably priced wines to accompany the food followed by good Cognac & Grappa to finish on. A nice chat with the Chef Patron, John Robinson, who is a lovely guy as well as being a very hard worker who is passionate about his food & deserves all the accolades he gets & more! We were all extremely happy with the whole evening & I don't think it will be long before our friends say "We're going to book a table at Whites, do you want to come?"

What was the previous reviewer talking about? As a 'Foody' and regular visitor to Whites I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed with the quality and imaginative use of the ingredients, never been less than impressed with the young, friendly and attentative staff and never less than amazed by the depth of flavours achieved in all 9 courses. Whites remains the best restaurant in Beverley and one of the very best in the county.

Went to whites Thursday for our wedding anniversary meal . It was the first time there we had the 9 course starter menu which was absolutely fantastic we can’t say enough about it . Every course blow our taste buds. The young waiter was so polite and professional he made us feel so welcome and explained every course. The restaurant is very clean and welcoming the decor is really lovely, I must say the seating is comfortable too . Can’t wait to go again with our friends. We highly recommended this restaurant.

Excellent food. Have visited several times and I am surprised that this chef not yet been awarded a Michelin Star?

Everything about our experience was wonderful. The restaurant itself is fairly unassuming, but is tastefully decorated, simple yet welcoming. The first thing we noticed was how few tables there were. This, we were told later, was an active decision made so as not to overcrowd the restaurant and make the dining experience better. This worked, in fact we were hardly aware of anyone else. The service was impeccable from start to finish, knowledgeable and attentive staff but not overbearing. The tasting menu is such a great experience, there was no procrastinating over the menu, the only decision we had to make was how many courses we were going to have. We opted for the 9 course. If you are a fussy eater or you’re expecting to be able to order from a menu, you don’t deserve to eat here. The tasting menu changes daily and you get what you’re given, you just have to trust the chef knows what he is doing, and trust us, he does. Using seasonal and local produce he crafted dishes that not only looked amazing but but were incredible to eat. The smoked eel was a particular highlight, as was the scallop. The gnocchi was the best we’re ever had. Upon arrival not only did we receive some complementary home made bread, we were severed a couple of amuse-bouche while we decided what to drink. The wine was really good value, we enjoyed a bottle of a decent NZ Sauvignon-blanc for just over £30, but you can have spent more or less. This was not a rushed affair, we enjoyed the experience and the fact there is just one sitting per night so we arrived at 7pm but didn’t leave until gone 10:30pm, well worth the £60 per head for the 9 course tasting menu. Surely a Mitchelin star is well overdue.

We had the 9 course taster menu. Food was excellent and a great variety of flavours. The service was very good and I could not fault it. The staff were polite and pleasant and knowledgeable about each course. The atmosphere in the restaurant was what you would expect for this type of restaurant. There are so many courses you tend to forget how many you have had.The whole experience was a real treat.

Four of us dined here last evening and we really enjoyed the surprise four course meal. Every dish was imaginative and full of flavour. The chef is brilliant. The service was friendly and efficient. When we got home, we spent ages discussing the wonders and intricacies of the meal. It was also good value. Now I need an excuse to return!

What an experience. Food is Devine, service is prompt and attentive, atmosphere is relaxed. I can’t fault the food at all, I tried foods I would normally never attempt. Would definitely recommend.

An excellent 4+ course tasting menu - also has a 9 course option. No choice , so no effort choosing . Had specified the night before that one of us was gluten free , so no tiring questioning about that . A surprise then at each course - all pleasant ones . A very reasonably priced wine list . Waiting staff just the right amount of attention and friendliness with the food descriptions , and John the owner/chef friendly and visible goilg about his kitchen.

What a find ? Owner chef is very talented and offers speciality surprise taster menus- 4 courses during the week and 9 courses at week ends£30.00 and £57.50. Dishes are imaginative and made up from quality fresh ingredients. If you are veggie or have food intolerances - just notify him in advance and he will cater for you. Premises are small and intimate. Excellent service. Presentation is excellent. Some lovely wines too which are not overpriced. The owner / chefs credentials are impeccable- he previously worked at Winteringham fields when it was a michelin star restaurant in addition to time in New Zealand- Auckland harbour- southern hemisphere food can be very different. It cannot be long before he gets his own Michelin star here ?? Best restaurant in area.

What a fantastic meal. Everything about our 4 course taster menu evening at Whites was sublime. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service efficient and informative. And the food...what can I say? Every course was a treat for the taste buds. If I had to make a criticism, the dessert course of chocolate , oats and marmalade was not for us - just too strong a flavour for our palate but we will be back!

We've eaten at White's on several occasions and it has always been wonderful. John, the owner and chef, is genuinely passionate about his work and it shows. We particularly like the fact that you don't chose what you will eat - it is simply brought to you, leisurely course after course, each one carefully explained. We've only ever had the mid-week 4-course menu (not the weekend 9-course one) but it seems to end up being six and we always leave feeling we've eaten enough. When you book, you will be asked if you have any allergies or food preferences, so John does cater for anyone (vegan, whatever) it will just be that you don't actually choose from a menu. We find that much more relaxed. It's very reasonably priced, especially for such quality food. We took a couple of American friends the other month and they said it was better than nearly all of the New York restaurants that they go to.
