My husband and I visited here on Sat. It's a beautiful place to unwind either for lunch or just a drink. I can't comment on the meals as we only had a coffee and a bun, which was lovely, a bit expensive but worth the ambience of the place. There are a couple of nice walks around the area also.

We just discovered this place for the Puffin trail. It’s a good place with lovely views. The cafe was warm and cosy, and the friendly staff was. It's easy to access by car, not far from the main road. I saw some people around the ponds with their baits, looking fun. The cake and coffee were good. You have to pay cash or bank transfer; they don't take card payments.

It’s been a while, but today we did the Risby Round walk beginning and ending in Walkington for us, with a welcome coffee and loo break at Folly Lake Cafe. Folly Lake Cafe is very popular with walkers, people looking for a coffee with a view and those in search of a tasty lunch and also serves as refreshment for the many anglers fishing the lake. There’s lots of outdoor seating including a covered seating area just before you get to the cafe. We didn’t eat today but there’s a really good selection of cakes and also meals available. The coffee is good quality and made with 2 shots so very tasty. NB Make sure to take cash with you as they don’t take cards. Recommended!

What a great little café this is, by the side of the lakes with a verandah and more seating on the other side, as well as indoor seating. Lovely, friendly staff, superb homemade cakes, which you can take away as well in a box for later. Toasted teacake was good, as was my lemon green tea. Loos provided on site. I only visited here to tick off one of the puffins on the puffin trail, otherwise I wouldn't have been aware of its existence. I'm sure the anglers, the lakes being their domain n all, would far prefer to keep more anonymity of the place, but the puffin sculptures will inevitably bring more publicity. There are information boards and you can do a couple of short walks around the area (just not around the lakes themselves, big no no!). The walks detailed are each about 2.5 miles in length, or you can combine the two. The Gothick style folly on the side of the lake (inaccessible due to fisherman's rights.) was built around 1770. It has graffiti on it dated 1808. Grade 2 listed building. The café is licensed too. NB Payment is by cash only or bank transfer. Crockery is only given if you are dining in, not for outside. There are many, many wasps in the vicinity, so if you remain unruffled, then so will they. They're only much needed pollinators after all and much maligned critters, undeservedly. Would heartily recommend this café and locale, respect the anglers and let the wasps be. I would revisit.

Very expensive two coffees & a scone + a small sausage roll £11.50 the good point is it's picturesque.

Beautiful place to go on a sunny day for a drink, cake or lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating and tasty paninis. I didn't try the cake but there was lots of choice and what I saw looked amazing. Staff were friendly and service was good.

A friend recommended I visit here. What a gem! It's lovely! I've been 4 times in 2weeks with different friends. The cakes are amazing. Lots of different seating areas and very tranquil. Lovely staff.

Tucked away off a quiet country lane with fishing lakes on site. Pleasant area to walk around but can get very muddy. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating looking over the lakes. There's a good range of savoury light bites and delicious homemade cakes. Hot and cold drinks including alcoholic ones. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. Best to take cash with you as no card payments only bank transfers. Popular spot for walkers, cyclists and anglers.

Lovely homemade food in a pretty setting (the cakes and porkpies were superb) Main downside is the cafe is cash/bank transfer only. Not accepting card payments in 2023 isn't stellar (even taking in to account the charges that are passed on my payment companies)
