Umami Indian Kitchen

Excellent service & venue. The food was good, however I would've preferred stronger, more authentic flavours, especially the Nihari gosht. However that's probably down to the regular clientele preferring toned-down versions. In hindsight I should've requested a more authentic version. Dessert was nice, though I expected the gulab jamun to be baked into the cheesecake rather than just slices placed on top. The service was excellent with a very personal touch. They are definitely passionate about food and the daily specials are definitely something to try.

The service provided by Mizzie (apologies if mis-spelt!) and his team has been excellent. They catered a party for us and from start to finish were really helpful. We went to the restaurant to discuss the order and ended up having a superb meal there. Beautiful flavours and all well presented. The catered meal was just as good. Starters and mains all to a high standard. The equipment for keeping the food hot made a huge difference and was way beyond our domestic capability. All of the guests loved the food, the portion sizes were very generous and everyone left completely satisfied. Standouts were the chilli paneer and the Railway lamb curry. So whether you are dining at the restaurant or splashing out for a party, then Umami comes highly recommended by us.

A group of 4 of us, service here is great. We came here for a birthday celebration. Nice decor and we would recommend and come again. Chicken 65 and the chili prawns were my favorite dish. Lamb shank curry is also up there. However all of the food had been lovely either way. We were seated quite early and usually u do have to vacate the table within 1 hour and 30 minutes, however the service had been great and they didn't mind us pushing that time by 2 hours though the place got pretty busy. Great for groups of people and couples.

Umami catered for my party of 30 people. They were helpful, friendly and communicative in making this happen, and the food was amazing and well priced. There were delicious vegan as well as meat options, and all my guests commented on how delicious the food was. I can’t wait to return and try more dishes. I don’t think we got any photos because we were too busy enjoying it!

Came to Umami for the first time for my friends 40th birthday They decorated the table for us and did a fantastic job. Choice of food on the menu is immense. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. The staff are well dressed, very attentive and polite. Highly recommend Umami to anyone, you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to go back!

Been to Umami a handful of times now and cannot fault this place at all. Staff are all super friendly and attentive, cocktail bar is well stocked with all different types of alcohol, the food is absolutely delicious, it always has a great atmosphere irrelevant if it's a weekday/weekend. Plenty of different options for food(meat, veg, fish) and definitely not your just your typical Indian takeaway. Soft shelled crab, salmon, scallops even lobster, street food starter options, different mains from all different regions of India. All of them tasty, full of flavour and delicious, the lamb dishes are my go too as the meat is always so tender! A true hidden gem in Harborne.
