The Rectory is a classy little place on Saint Paul's Square at the heart of the jewelry quarter. The traditional English food is great quality, well presented and tastes delish. The 2 for 1 cocktail deal on Thursdays is also a nice touch, although the free cocktail has to be the same as the paid for one and they aren't a touch on the bitters & twisted venues. I had baked Brie boxes for starter and the 8oz sirloin steak for main course, both were beautiful and really well cooked, and the belly pork looked fantastic. Service was a little sporadic with dishes served up at different times but all in all, a great tasting meal and nice little venue.

The steak was amazing, tender, tasty and cooked to perfection (I always have my steak rare) and the chunky chips were a thing to behold. The mushroom sauce could have been better, as it was a little on the bland side, however it didn’t take anything away from the fantastic steak. The pork belly was also a hit with our group and looked fantastic when it turned up on the table. The crackling was crunchy enough to get everyone paying attention and the black pudding mash looked creamy and fluffy...on the whole it was a great night. The food was fantastic and I’d definitely recommend a trip to try the steak.

In a quiet spot near the church, the bar is warm and welcoming with a range of beers including Leffe on tap. The food is good too with a nice range of pub grub and less traditional dishes that includes a small Tapas range, burgers, chicken en croute, steaks and liver & bacon: mains generally cost £10-15. A few special offers through the week and a reasonable selection of wines make it well worth a visit: recommended. Friendly staff, but only on-street parking.

My first time in this bar and restaurant. My colleague chose it as her meeting place for her maternity leave do. It's located opposite the church in St. Paul's square. It has some tables outside to sit at but they are right on the pavement. Inside, there are two large rooms, my colleague had found a large booth style table to sit at. It is nicely decorated in there. I did like their drinks menu which I think is styled on the old Penguin books? I just had a mojito mocktail which was really refreshing! They do have happy hour on the cocktails which made me think I should have had one as it was hours before I needed to drive!!! Lol never mind!!

Despite this bar being practically on my doorstep, I have only been down a couple of times. It's just off St Paul's Square, meaning it's the perfect spot to stop by and grab a quiet drink or some food. Externally it's very pretty. Many of the old features of the building have been preserved, whilst the big glass doors give it a modern twist. It's much the same inside with red brick walls and a laid back, classy vibe with comfortable furniture. It has a bar and a restaurant area inside, but during quiet periods you are allowed to take your drinks into the seating are (normally reserved for diners) and enjoy the generously sized booths. Your lowest priced bottle of wine is £18.95 and a pint will set you back just shy of £4 (so it's not cheap). I must confess, I've never eaten here; but the menu is reasonably priced with most mains being priced between £10 - £15 (steak is a little more, as you would expect). It normally has a couple of ales on tap (I partook of a pint of the Hereford Pale Ale last night which was most pleasant), but the wine list and bar choices are very varied. It seems to attract an eclectic crowd, but mostly locals in the week. On the weekend it can get very busy (so best to book if you wish to eat). If you haven't been before, I would give it a go; it really is a beautiful well kept space.

My visit to the rectory was an impromptu decision for a friends birthday and we were pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely window table and at half six on a Saturday night the atmosphere was just right for a girly catch up and good eats. The service was attentive and the menu selection was a good one, good to the point I was stuck. The girls opted for tapas items and I went for the burger ( in the attempt of stomach lining for a dirty night out) never being one to turn down a brioche bun I was very satisfied with my choice. Although left with major food envy when the halloumi came out and I spent a long while internally sulking about my lack of grilled cheese. I foolishly didn't realise the price of the wine (19.45 per bottle) when ordering it by the gallon for our table but the food was reasonably priced so just about made up for it. We had a very lovely evening and felt remarkably looked after. If I manage to meet Prince Charming on Tinder I will insist that he takes us there on our first date...

I've been to the Rectory for many occasions, from after-work drinks to a 'parent friendly' meal. Its great for all occasions and is always buzzing. It can get busy but I've always managed to get a seat or a table. There's a large outdoor courtyard area out back and it has a television where you can watch some games. The location is fantastic just off St Pauls Square which makes it perfect for the JQ and the City. I've eaten many a meal here and it's always been good. The menu is well thought out and I have trouble deciding what I want as there's so much choice! It caters to vegans and those with diary/soya allergies - they are very willing to compromise on dishes. I'm off here for my work Christmas do and can't wait!

This is one of my favourite places as this quirky venue offers stylish surroundings that are perfect for a pre-Saturday night out on the town or drinking round St Pauls Square. We often choose to start our evening here as we can sit and enjoy a bottle of wine whilst actually being able to talk to each other. and there is always music on in the background. Price wise, it's not the cheapest of bars but when you go out on the weekend you kind of expect a bottle of wine to be around £15 and beers from £3.50. The bar staff are normally pretty quick at serving you and up for a chat too whilst you wait to get served.

With the backdrop of the church and St. Paul's square few restaurants offer the ambiance that the rectory does. It's great frontage and well designed interior, it is really a great restaurant. I went there on a Sunday and was impressed by the Sunday roast that was clearly cooked fresh and a relatively good size. The wine menu is good although the bar service was a bit slow. Overall a good restaurant in a great setting!

I like the rectory, it was always a place for us to go as a team after work. It has the brickwall kind of style, wooden tables. It has a bar and restaurant area. The restaurant provides nice really round tables, perfect for a group and not squeezed next to each other. It's chilled out and the food is quite good too, tried the halloumi there before. It's great especially in the summer when you can sit outside and have a great view at St. Paul's square. I think it's perfect for the afterwork drinks.

The Rectory is a bar and restaurant on St Paul's Square, opposite the entrance to the church. It's a pretty classy place and the food is good. The seating in the bar area is fairly high and ok for a couple of friends but round the corner there are some booths which are more comfortable and good for larger groups; downstairs is set up like a typical restaurant and the patio area has picnic seating. It's a nice patio actually although slightly reminiscent of a school/college yard. There's a great range of food at The Rectory but it is a bit pricey. I recommend going in for lunch or a snack before diving in to the mains. The tempura prawns are a pretty good start.

This is a very pleasant place to be. It's in a pleasant setting over looking St Paul's church though once inside the view becomes less obvious. The decor is modern, combing comfort with style. I popped in for lunch and had the Club Sandwich, £6.95, I couldn't resist a bowl of fat chips for an extra £1.50 all went down very well. I've been to this place once before during a night out and it certainly provided a lively start to the night. Vibrant, buzzing and appealing are just some of the words I'd use for this bar and restaurant.

Went out with work colleagues and had an amazing time. Played dart games and there are multiple versions of it. Trust me, you will not get bored. You can combine players to create multiple teams and play it as a team game. Think the price was £40 for 2 hrs. I am a vegetarian and not many options were available. Had flat bread and hummus. Other team members had burgers 🍔 and they seemed happy 😊

The classy Rectory pub is an establishment in St. Paul’s square. It has been serving quality craft beers to generations of customers. I’ve never had the pleasure of eating here. I’m happy to say, after my visit, I am chuffed with the experience. It is 21st century, COVID sensitive culinary experience. The customer downloads an app, allowing them to choose food and pay for it. Once paid for on the app, all you have to do is patiently wait. The food selection is humble, but a familiar pub affair with modern twists. The standout dish for me was the duck and pork sausage roll. It was a perfect combination of light puff pastry, meat and sauce. It looked beautiful too. Each dish was prepared to a high quality and tasted superb. The serving staff were humble and helpful. The back yard, outdoor seating area is enclosed, stacked with garden brollies and out of the wind. Just bring a puffer jacket in case the British weather does something unusual.

In Birmingham on my own for a night (September 2022), I could not have found a better place to eat, drink and chill out. The bar was lively, not rowdy, and the food was just what I'd hoped for. All of the staff were friendly and helpful without overdoing it, and even took care to accommodate my food intolerances. The Rectory's on St Paul's Square, a peaceful green spot in the Jewellery Quarter with an interesting old church.

I finally find an amazing place to have a full meal with quality! The food it was just amazing and the desert!!!!!!!! So, good that I dont even have the right word! Very well done! The place was not full of people, what gaves you space and the time to relax, exactly what I like when I go out for a meal. The staff was very friendly. I truly recommend !

Visited with a stag do for some late night darts. Legends were made that night, many drinks were had, but to possibly the worst soundtrack there ever was, the music was truly dreadful. Change that, and this would be a 5 star review.

Really nice place. I just have a Guinness but most of the tables were booked for the dining. Probably will give a shot next time in Birmingham

Really nice staff, cosy place right next to the St Paul's Church. Went for an early diner on a Tuesday evening and ordered a veg meal (butternut, brie and beetroot pie with new potatoes and Mediterranean veg) and it was delicious! Came on a warm plate and was tasty and delicate. Also had a lovely organic ginger beer (non alcoholic). They don't use plastic straw but paper ones. Highly recommend this place!

Went to the rectory for the first time this weekend and was very impressed. We were on a bit of a crawl so popped in but ended up having 3 pints. Nice atmosphere and really friendly staff. Hopefully will get onto the dart boards next time (Our fault for not booking!)

Great place for a darts night with friends! Once the dart board was working we had a great time. The music playing was also great and the service excellent.
