A pub but with an Indian twist. Near the home of West Bromwich Albion Football club and the perfect place for a pint and a mixed grill before kickoff time. Atmosphere is loud and not really or the faint hearted. Majority of customers are men and therefore being a lady visiting could be quite daunting.
This place is famous for its mixed grills and it does not disappoint. Don’t expect amazing service this place is basic, you have to get your own food and drinks from the bar or kitchen but it is more than made up on the fact that the price is amazingly cheap. Four about £20 you can easily get a mountain of meat to feed 6 people without problem. The food is BBQ therefore you will get the odd to well charred lamb chop but on the whole well worth the money. The naan bread is amazing when hot and is best used to wrap the sheesh kebab to make a kebab roll.
To feed a group of friends on the cheap visit this place- if you don’t like noise, banter or meat at all costs.
Came here on Tuesday evening to meet a friend for food.
First impressions good. Nicely decorated and clean. We sat in one of the large booths by the bar with a TV.
Not very busy with it being a Tuesday.
Ladies toilets were clean which is always important!
The menu has a great, varied choice. I opted for 3 of the tapas dishes for £13. I had the melted cheese sticks, chicken Quesadillas and dirty fries. My friend opted for the chicken breast burger but unfortunately, after ordering, a member of staff informed us that they didn't have any chicken breasts so she had the beef burger instead.
All food was good and we didn't have to wait long.
Staff were friendly.
A couple of improvements would make this a 5 star review:
Ensure that sauces are on the table and that they are full as we had to ask for sauces.
We had to ask for cutlery and napkins after our food was bought out.
The large soft drinks were not really large. Would be good to offer a pint of soft drink as a large drink.
As we were driving, I didn't really look at the choice of alcohol on offer.
Overall a nice experience and would definitely return.
I'd stopped coming to this pub when it was the vine, due to the sour faces and eye rolling from some of the staff and the food had taken a nose dive! Now its been taken over some of more pleasant previous staff have been kept on and the foods 100% improved well done 👏 and the decor is stylish clean and now the best in any Harborne pub top marks!!
Absolutely fantastic place with top-notch staff. Management are absolutely fantastic and we loved the Halloween decorations will absolutely be returning for yet another fantastic five star meal thank you
I visit the O'Neills in Harborne fairly regularly since it's refresh from the Sizzling, it looks and feels fresh and great atmosphere. So time for a review!
Drinks - Wide selection at the bar to pick from, always served cold and fresh. Bonus having happy hour during the week 5pm - 8pm too. Plenty of offers in the app to pick from, with no issues using them at the bar. Table ordering in the app can be a little glitchy though, so best used at the bar if can.
Food - Didn't order food on this visit, but have done many times previously so commenting on those visits. Food always served piping hot, fresh and with plenty to pick from. Very occasionally the odd item isn't available - but plenty else there. Highly recommend the lunch & drink menu where can get a meal and drink for around £6.75 / £7.75 if a pint. Top choices typically are the southern fried chicken flatbread and the fish and chips for me!
Atmosphere - Clean, fresh and welcoming. Music during the day at a comfortable level to be able to work, lots of plug sockets available all round the place to charge phone / laptop etc. Toilets always well kept and looked after. Weekend evenings, the live entertainment is well worth checking out too. Added bonus is the awesome garden - plenty of space, with shelters and covered areas to stay out during the more "British weather".
WiFi - Works perfectly - according to Speedtest get 48.1Mbps download / 12.7 Mbps upload on laptop. No issues at all with using a somewhere to catch up with work.
Parking - Wasn't going to comment on this as don't drive to the pub - Google reviews suggestion of parking topic have come back to add it.. There is lots behind the place, free to use for customers - but be sure to register number plate on the tablet at the bar.
Staff - Always happy and welcoming with no exceptions. Quick to sort anything need with a smile! Can't fault at all, and go above and beyond every time. On the later visits, the door staff are also notably friendly, fair and professional to keep the venue safe and fun.
Overall... 10/10 (+ more). Keep it up, doing great!
1st time visit on a lovely sunny afternoon.
Really clean + inviting inside.
Helpful staff + nice drop of Neck Oil shandy to keep hydrated😁
Popped in + ended up staying for quite a few hours-no idea where the time went-great atmosphere.
Remember to pop your registration number in the tablet on the bar.
Nice staff, friendly, did there best to serve us,
It's been done out very well..
So it was nice to visit,
Food smelt good, even though I didn't have any on this occasion,
Good for football or sports,
Lovely spacious outdoors..
Definitely go again
1st time visiting since the name change, food was lovely, I had the 16oz rump steak it was cooked perfectly ( rare ) & the crispy prawns are lush i highly recommend the spicy mayo 🤤, staff were friendly & very helpful, kids menu is reasonably priced too
Desperate for a late mother's day evening meal we pulled in at this pub. Didn't look too bright inside and view through an open door by the bar showed a lot of rubbish stacked in the corridor. There were no roast meals available, as that was only for lunchtime, or the special meals on a separate menu so my husband chose a steak (which came out sizzling on a platter) and the rest of us had fish and chips which were piping hot and freshly cooked. The meals were great and a large fish meal that one of us ordered turned out to be two very large pieces of fish which he couldn't eat. Staff were kind enough to put it in a box to take home. Moral is don't judge a book by its covers. The meal was nicer than an identical meal we had at our hotel on a previous day and only half the price.
Despite going on an autumn midweek evening, my friends and I have a great evening at O'Neill's. The food was reasonably priced and tasted great (who knew you can get Mac n Cheese ON a burger??), and there were plenty of deals and options for drinks. The staff were also really friendly - even in spite of my group probably being the only obstacle between them and an early finish towards the end of the night! It's also vast yet comfortably kitted out - probably my go-to local pub from now on!
Visited O'Neill's in Harborne a couple of times now, live music is always a plus and the staff are brilliant, really friendly and more than happy to help with any query. Great looking bar with good atmosphere, the food is also brilliant, 5 tapas is a good amount for 2 to share, could even stretch to 3 if not greedy like me, careful with the chilli's though, the chicken burger is also very good. Highly recommend this place!
