Awesome. A little bit of a wait from order to service, but well worth it. We split the ghion special platter between 4 people, which was plenty of food. It comes with lentils, veggies, lamb, chicken, and beef, as well as tons of injera. Definitely recommend.

Enjoy a flavor and texture bonanza! Everything we have tried has been tasty, it’s a nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy your company and the people are very friendly. You can request your level of spiciness. We have fun experimenting each time we eat here.

I have been craving Ethiopian food and was thrilled when I opened Yelp to discover there was a restaurant nearby. We are in town for appointments at UAB, and I now know exactly where I will go each time we come. I went to Ghion last night, close to closing time, and was greeted by the friendliest gentleman who did not make me feel rushed at all. It turns out he is the owner and we had a great chat about the restaurant and its delicious Injera (which he makes fresh every morning - YUM). I ordered my standard - the vegetable sampler - and would put it up there with the best I’ve ever had. So excited to have found this little gem of a restaurant and I will definitely be back next time I am in town!

This restaurant experience reminded me of my trip to Addis. The food was the real deal. It was plentiful, quick, and a great value. The decor was beautiful, especially the Ethiopian laced curtains. Best restaurant experience in Birmingham!

Very good food! I really enjoyed the lamb dish and the Tikel Gomen. This was my first time eating Ethiopian food, and I thought it was excellent. I looked up a few recipes after visiting because I wanted to learn to make a few of the tasty dishes. I’m glad Ghion is here, and I hope it stays for a long time. The staff was super friendly, and I’ll be sure to visit again.

Absolutely delicious. The staff explained several items and made recommendations, even telling us what was most authentic. I got the veggie plate. My sister liked it so much she ate with me instead of what she had ordered from another stall. Very friendly, excellent food. One portion of the veggie plate was enough to feed both of us with ample leftovers, but they also offer it in a double serving for two now. For the record, they do offer complimentary tap water.
