Cafe Succo

My business ordered lunch from here a couple months ago and we had a pretty awful experience. I didn't write a review then because I wanted to give them a second chance. Well, that second chance was today. Month's ago they assured me, that they where extending their lunch menu. That has not happened yet. They have a couple wraps which I've never had the opportunity to try. Instead I've had their very underwhelming $12 Mediterranean salad. I had every intention on ordering a wrap today but since they close at 3pm, they shut down their grills at 2:30pm because it's extremely important to their staff that they aren't there past 3pm cleaning and closing like any other regular establishment. They hire a bunch of kids who have zero customer service and problem solving skills. When one of the kids was making my smoothie, she asked another if it was too runny. She replied that it wasn't, but we all know what a "smoothies" consistency should be like. It's not a juice, it's a smoothie. It shouldn't be just liquid. She handed it to me and I agreed, it was too runny. When I said that, they acted like their world was over. So one of the young ladies dumped half of my $7.50 smoothie back into the blender, grabbed a handful of fruit and reblended it once more. The reason she said that my co-workers smoothie wasn't the same consistency as mine was because "people have different hand sizes". I swear to gosh that's what she said to me. She explained that they juat grab handfuls of the ingredients to make the smoothie and nothing is measured, ever. Smoothie was runny and tasted bad. Salad was awful. Customer service was terrible. The value for what I paid was extremely disappointing. I will never come back here again. The other reviews should have been enough for me honestly.

So disappointing. I have been here twice and both times the same issue. Not real açaí ! Do not come here if you want a real açaí bowl. You can tell that they are not made fresh from real açaí. We waited very long, 40 minutes. They aren’t supposed to take long. Birmingham always makes the worst versions of food possible in every way. How can you not make a nice simple açaí bowl? Half of it was filled with granola too. Not supposed to be like that.

Cafe Succo... Coffee was okay. Not bad but okay. When I buy coffee out, I want it to be the best, not okay. When I asked if they had a dark roast (strong) coffee they said that their customers say it's not strong. They offered to add a shot of espresso at an additional charge to make it strong. Instead I got a cappuccino, it was okay. I want great. Staff was polite but never even bothered to ask if my cap was good or if it gave me the bolt I was looking for. Nothing. I expect better for Birmingham and the price. I'll go back next year and see if thay have improved.

Never open during their business hours. 9/10 times you drive by at 10AM and they’re still closed despite their hours saying they are open at 9AM. Watched as one of their employees was so sick she had to bend over and cough hysterically wipe her mouth and continue to make my smoothie bowl… what are they THINKING during COVID?! I brought this up to the manager and said their employees shouldn’t be working while sick and he begrudgingly offered to give me the smoothie bowl for free… there was no chance I was eating it after that awful experience! He had no plans to remove this woman from her shift.

Horrible customer service! The confused staffer told us we needed masks even though the mandate requirement has been lifted since last month. I asked about their cold pressed juice and was told since they were closing in 15min they were unable to make them?? So We ordered 2 smoothies of the same kind and was told since we were not wearing masks we would have to wait outside in the hot sun. They had no umbrellas at their tables outside and we were with 2 small children. It took them 25 minutes to make those 2 smoothies! We were given No apology for the long wait and no explanation either mind you there was no other customers in the business. This business is poorly operated and I don’t appreciate the treatment we were given. Will never return again.

Not sure why this place doesn't have higher ratings. i've been coming here for at least 5 years now or more probably and it never disappoints! Prices are fair and portions are good. I've tried many other acai bowls in the area and while on vacation and no where i've tried can compare to the acai bowls at Cafe Succo! The revive bowl is amazing and employees are always very kind and patient when ordering :) I also really appreciate the fact that the smoothie bowls are made fresh and not pre frozen like other juice shops i've seen before! If ur in the area and want healthy options CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!!!! U wont be disappointed!
