We booked for dinner on Friday evening & my partner & I had the best night. The food was fabulous, the staff were so friendly & welcoming & there was even a disco. Great music & fabulous to see everyone (young & old) up dancing together - I mean everyone!
Thank you for a memorable evening. It truly made our weekend away.
Very kind and friendly staff, great food at reasonable prices.
Dog friendly, too!
We loved the 20% off for over 65's
Can't understand why more people don't go.
This is a very good pub.
Under new management and much improved. We've been to the bugle a few times since the management changed, and eaten there twice. It is so much better! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the food is home cooked, well priced and plentiful. The atmosphere is so much better. I do hope they bring the pool table back though, even if they put it outside in the separate room. That would make us spend a lot more time there!
First time I had the fish pie from the specials and my husband had the ribs. Last time I had the ploughmans and my husband the burger. Really good food. I hope they start to get more popular as they have obviously worked hard to restore this pub after the disaster of the last management. I Hope to get down to try the carvery soon!
Excellent food, very friendly atmosphere, great service, lovely village pub where we enjoyed a well cooked, very tasty Sunday roast at an affordable price. Well done, highly recommend.
With friends looking for a bite to eat last night and drove to Botley to go to Dolphin but it was full so we crossed the road and went into the Bugle and so pleased we did , far better than the Dolphin or the Shamblehurst Barn which we had tried earlier but the chef walked out and it was chaos🤣🤣🤣 .
The Bugle is a traditional old coaching Inn with a vast menu, superb food, piping hot, between us we had the pie and veg, hunters chicken, gammon and tikka masala and have to say absolutely brilliant food, tasty well served with good portions and lovely and hot and the chips, well l don’t think any of us have had chips as good as these anywhere, fantastic. And the desserts, a huge choice and delicious, cannot fault the food in anyway, all excellent.
The staff, Louise and other colleagues were fabulous, chatty and knowledgeable and we were told that the new management had only been there from about the beginning of the year and was already doing lots of improvements to turn the pub around because it had been closed for a long time and the new owner is absolutely lovely.
Also a big surprise but very welcome the 20% off from Monday to Friday all day and evening, and it is dog friendly and they are very welcome with dog treats , what a special place to go.
The difference with the bugle to any other pub is that it is a traditional pub, bare floorboards , wooden tables, comfy chairs but not loud in colour, not dressed to perhaps please everyone but it was a lovely pub to eat and drink in, and sadly not many pubs like this around anymore, so well worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
This pub is obviously now being run by a competent and knowledgable landlord who knows his business and we will definitely be back on a regular basis and have been told the Sunday carvery is excellent which we will try very soon.
Thankyou for an excellent meal and hope your business goes from strength to strength.
The Bugle is under new management. At last a good selection of real ales that are kept well, 4 in total. There are plenty of other drinks available of course. We didn't eat there this time but the aromas were tempting. The staff and atmosphere were genial. It's certainly worth a visit.
One of the best Sunday carveries I have ever tasted. 6 of us all agreed. Everyone should go there and try it. Service was excellent and staff incredibly helpful to the disabled person with us. A great Sunday experience.
We really enjoyed our dinner. My daughter had the carvery and I had the halloumi burger which were both lovely and a brilliant price. Throughly enjoyed our salted caramel cheesecake too. Amazing value and good portions
Only minor issue was the toasted sandwich was toast with a filling, rather than the sandwich having been toasted. But still yummy!
You must arrive hungry! They serve the best fish and chips in the county, nay the whole country. Desserts are also fantastic. Lovely old inn with plenty of character with friendly staff and great service. Live music at weekends too. Landlady is particularly lovely too. Well worth a special trip to visit.
