I’ve been to many Toby Carveries over the years with varying degrees of satisfaction, but this one is busy with good reason - it's excellent! Well, it was this lunch, the vegetables were mostly cooked al dente with garlic mash and cheesy spinach, and the meat was succulent, even the apple gravy was well flavoured.
Really good value and service was good considering the place was jam packed. BUT my party of 8 did not have to wait, no waiting time, are booked table was ready on time,
Our drinks took less then five minutes and our Sunday roast was the best, I feel it is the best Toby along the south coast, and the host Keith and Sarah are 100% the best hosts.
Although it was a busy Sunday evening we got a table within 10 mins and oncecdrinks orders were placed only queued for 5 mins to be served our meal. The beef was melt in the mouth and the vegetables you were spoilt for choice. Gravy was empty but refilled immediately.
Considering it was a peak period we never got the impression of being rushed at any time and as always the staff were friendly and efficient.....particularly Keith our table waiter. I will certainly be returning soon.
A great Toby to visit. Though be aware is does not open until 9am and not alot of parking.
We went in for breakfast. Staff at the bar were friendly and helpful. Plenty of seating. The inside has just been refurbished and looks clean, tidy, and homely.
The food was fresh and plenty of choice.
Went for breakfast, my first time, was lovely. However when we came in, we we're told to pay at the bar then go sit down. That was all good but I didn't know what beverages were available/cost etc. I ordered a flat white as I felt on the spot, but upon going and getting my breakfast I saw there was refillable coffee. Which I'd of known of this before I got my flat white. Maybe a small breakfast drinks menu on the bar might be a fair suggestion, I'll know for next time but it really irked me as filter coffee is always my preference over a machine made one.
Popped in with some friends for the carvery. The front near the bar is dog friendly which was great for my friend's huge Caucasian Shepherd dog. The staff were super friendly and nice and the food was wholesome and hearty.
A friend brought me here to try the place. It's very good, very meat-and-potatoes type place with inoffensive, home cooking flavors. It reminds me of a couple restaurants from back home in the states, like Cracker Barrel.
Nice, fresh and clean after a refurbishment.
Good food as always, at a fair price. Drinks expensive, which is a shame. Delightful staff who provide great service.
New decor has really brightened up the venue. Servers were very helpful and made us feel welcome.
Fantastic experience.
Went again today and still is The best toby carvery in dorset, allways nice hot food and allways full up, and its half term so kids aet for £1
Ordered for 4 adults and 1 child from deliveroo. only half the order came and when we rung Northbourne toby carvery we were greated with Emma who helped us with the order promptly without hesitation. She went above and beyond for us and has truly saved mothers day! Thank you Emma and all envolved for being so professional but especially Emma!!
We were a small group of 7 for a colleagues 50th birthday. Our waitress Sue was fab throughout our evening, very attentive despite being very busy. Great humour and even gave banter back with us. Food was good too, I opted for the Yorkshire pud wrap with ham and mustard, chef was a bit heavy handed with mustard...otherwise a nice change from a roast.
Very well priced. Good food, standard throughout the chain. Recently refurbished, light and spacious.
