We went here for lunch yesterday, our first visit. We were not disappointed.
All four meals served were very well cooked. The choices on the menu were varied and there was something for everyone.
It was great to see an old style Corned Beef Square, served with chunky chips and mushy peas.
Two of our party that had them said they were very tasty.
I had the roasted salmon, crushed potatoes and veg. Very good indeed.
The other diner had the Royal Pie, which was a very generous portion and was also delicious.
Prices are very fair, the staff very friendly, service was very good and the place was comfortably decorated.
Now we know about the food at The Royal, we will certainly visit again.
A 'Hidden Gem'�
We have been going to the Royal at Low Moor for a couple of years now and we have never been disappointed. The food is excellent great value, staff are pleasant and obliging, highly recommend.
The food it beautiful, fresh and home cooked. However on this occasion we were left to wait 50 minutes for our food (6 people). Not great when there are hungry children . Other than the waiting time the food was spot on. Always enjoy the food. The staff are helpful and very nice.

Excellent food, served by attentive staff, no job was too big considering my children were regularly asking for condiments and deserts.
The Gambas Pil Pil was exquisite well worth a try. It wont dissapoint.
Relaxing atmosphere, and will definately be visiting again.
Lovely pub, nice and friendly bar staff as soon as you walk in. We ordered the lamb shank and fish and chips both delicious and my partner was happy he had plenty of chips 👍kids meals where perfect portion and he ate everything! And the bill was less than we expected for everything we got so well worth the money ! Would definitely recommend for a nice relaxing family meal 👍
We had Sunday lunch it was absolutely spot on and quite large portions my wife had to take a doggy bag of beef home. It's a very varied menu, something for everyone we really enjoyed.

Visited 17.6.23 - Food service was excellent, served drinks at the table rather than the bar, which I liked as the bar was full. This is a bar where people call in after work for a drink. The food area is at another end of the pub.
The menu offers a wide range of food choices for all. I ordered a steak, it was okay. The cost was £18.95 my friend ordered Chicken Parma £14.95, hers was the better deal as she had alot more food on her plate. I asked for a salad instead of chips and was given a spoon of chopped up salad which did not warrant a salad, it came with half a tomato and two mushrooms. I'd have rather they'd gave said what the 'salad' would be beforehand as I would have ordered the chicken salad meal instead. For me there was too much butter on the mushrooms/plate which totally spoiled it, but some will like that. Service is quick and efficient.
Overall yeah good, and first off the food was really tasty, REALLY tasty, but for what was being charged, I just felt the food was a little overpriced.. The curried fish was ace, very rich and more akin to a high-end restaurant in a good way, but the portion size was more like a 'light bite'.. I'd ordered fries on the side and was very glad to have, as I would have left hungry otherwise.. The presentation of my meal was excellent though, plus the service from the staff was very good too, that's why we're rating our experience as a 4/5.. Drinks fair price, standard pub/restaurant layout, but with a nice spin towards it being a gastropub style.. We wanted to try somewhere new and would go again, thumbs up..
Had a meal with my daughter and son in law on Saturday the 29th April. We all had different dishes and every one was delicious. Very well presented and very filling. Very highly satisfied, ideal for any occasion and especially for families. I highly recommend this very traditional,all round British pub.
What an excellent find. Tucked away from the roadside and sited in the middle of a row of terraced houses, you wouldn’t want to miss this pub. Food, service and atmosphere all very good. I will definitely be going back.
