Taste Of Bengal

Been using Taste of Bengal for a lot of years. - I don’t visit as often these days due to a restrictive diet, however, last night we visited. Had a chicken Karahi, my wife a lamb masala and 6 chapattis. The food was excellent, perfect consistency, plenty of meat and generous portions. Chapattis were fresh and authentic. Abdul was - as always, pleasant and welcoming. Taste of Bengal is a jewel in Idle’s crown and deserves to be busier. It is small, but to me that makes a sine in visit even more special. If you fancy a good authentic curry, you really need to pay them a visit.

This tiny restaurant was surprisingly quiet a week before Christmas. A couple left just as our party arrived, and there were only two other solitary diners during our visit. Surprising as the food was good. I had fish pakora which were light and tasty, followed by a Sylyethi Special. This unusual curry was a mixture of large and small prawns with vegetables in a light sauce - a good option if trying to avoid a heavy curry. The mushroom pilau rice which accompanied it was superb. I was part of a group of 7 & we were all happy with our food. The prices are very reasonable indeed. Most of the main courses are only £7 or £8. Drink is also cheap. The owner was the waiter, friendly and polite. A good local curry house.
