Came here Saturday teatime without a reservation and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Zak is the most exceptional bar man I've come across in years. Attentive, accommodating and readily going out of his way to make sure I was catered for, even though he was covering everything by himself. Simply brilliant!
I eat here quite often and as always, the food and service were excellent. We were eating before going to a show and prompt service meant the evening flowed smoothly.
Rooms were basic, but done the job for a night stay, clean and tidy.
Service was brilliant, the woman serving and sorting our orders was amazing went above and beyond.
Breakfast was delicious will definetely use again when we're back in Somerset visiting family 😁☺️
I haven't eaten here for several years but I should have come sooner. Four of us were given a warm welcome and shown to a table. It was late afternoon and quiet. I placed the order at the bar with another friendly member of staff. I ordered a medium rump steak and it was very tender and tasty, the best rump I've eaten in years.Friends loved the steak and ale pie and burgers. Met the friendly chef. Will definitely be back.
First time trying for food this evening. To be brutally honest was one of the nicest meals out for quite a while. Having a selection of starters, mains and drinks. All good came to the table well cooked and hot hot. Tasted very good, service was good and efficient and overall a good experience. Will definitely be trying again
From the outside it looks like a Chinese Restaurant, red and gold lettering.
Inside the Restaurant widens out and surprisingly spacious.
The menu to our pleasant surprise was authentic Italian dishes. I had beef tagliatelle and my wife a vegetable lasagne. Both very nice and plentiful. Tirimasso for desert, not the best but still v nice.
We didn't book but were lucky to be given a table.
Not overly expensive.
Overall a good experience on our last night in St Ives
We had lunch with our friends over the weekend, and as it wasn't my first rodeo here I knew what to expect, the rest of our group didn't, and I wasn't at all disappointed!
As in other Marstons, we had to order at the bar on a pay-as-you-go basis, which for me is absolutely fine, the day of the 'tab' is long gone!
That said, our food was really good, hot & plentiful and quite quick to arrive, so full marks there.
I was surprised that it wasn't better patronised than it was, being only 2 minutes off the M5, but there you are.
So all in all, nothing wrong here, a good, wholesome chain pub, arguably better than a lot and somewhere we will be more than happy to come back to!!
I haven't made mention of the rooms because we didn't use one.
Great service during our carvery visit yesterday. Food was really well presented and staff very meticulous. Thanks for a lovely meal.
Have since been back for breakfast. We phoned ahead as we were not sure as to what time they stopped serving. They told us half past ten so explained we were passing by on our way to Cornwall and would hopefully be there around quarter to twenty past and could they keep us three aside. The staff were so helpful as we arrived just after half past due to traffic and the breakfast was served cooked freshly by the wonderful apprentice chef.
We will be back again to visit on our travels.

A staff member, her name is Sue was very helpful in helping me to book in. When I tried to put in my date of birth. It would’ve been a long scroll back from 2023. Unfortunately, although extremely comfortable, I didn’t sleep throughout the night. I thought at first it was a door being slammed, which caused a slight tremor of the bed from the floor, it happened every couple of minutes. I got so fed up with trying to sleep. I got up and left, earlier than I had intended.
