Always a great vibe and great food here. Very good mezcal selection with many of the cocktails featuring mezcal as well. A starter of Totopos with guacamole & salsa is a must. Move on to the "Life-changing" Fish Tacos - made with Mexican beer-battered whitefish and homemade tortillas. They've even got after-meal coffee options that feature mezcal. Everything here is delicious. I could eat here every week and still perfectly content. Go now!
What a great vibe and service, one of the best Mexican places with cocktails and tequila to die for.
On top of my octopus and chorizo burito which the cheff says us not on the menu as a special was exquisite.
And to top off my experience the head chef came out with a brand new experimental dish, battered octopus which was like chunks of fish with a sauce was explosive with flavour and melted in the mouth like it should.
Great vibe team. Will definitely come again.
Chahir Maiz visited the Carlito Burrito during a recnt visitng to Worthing, Littlehampton, Petworth West Sussex. The burritos were truly great and the service was very good. We truly enjoyed the food and the fish tacos were a marvel. Carlioto Burrito also received great reviews in the Littlehamton Gazzette, Worthing Herald, West Sussex County Times and the Argos.
Authentic Mexican, excellent food and margaritas. Fantastic service from friendly folks.
Since this place cropped up a few months ago, I've been dying to try it! As a lover of Mexican food, I am always happy to welcome new Mexican joints to the city - especially ones that look as vibrant and enticing as Carlito Burrito.
I went in for dinner here on a Wednesday night and the place was completely packed. We got seated (just!) at a lovely big table in the window, decked out in a colourful, bright table cloth. The restaurant, being rather small, was buzzing and had a great atmosphere about it.
Now, I wasn't that hungry when I arrived but as soon as you walk through the door and smell that food, I wager that anyone's stomach would start to rumble. The menu is perfect - just enough to satisfy most customers but not overwhelmingly large. I opted for a pork burrito and, let me say, I was not disappointed by my choice.
First let me say that I've been on the hunt around Brighton for a top-notch burrito for a while now, so whenever I sit down to try one, my expectations are high! There's a lot that can wrong with a burrito, so it can be a bit underwhelming, but then, there's a lot that can go right... Carlito Burrito have nailed it (as they should have, considering they even have burrito in their name). My meal was packed full of flavour and texture, staying piping hot throughout and was just the right amount for a hungry person.
Granted, it was an absolute nightmare to eat - my friends were no doubt ashamed to be sitting with me by the end of it, my hands and face covered - but the mess is so so worth it!! My friends had the fish tacos which looked gorgeous and apparently tasted delicious as well, but were certainly a smaller portion, so if you're looking for something filling then the burrito is the choice for you!
It's been a few days now and I'm still thinking about that meal. I'm so thrilled that I've finally found an epic Brighton burrito (though my physique my not be thanking me in a few months time). Being new to Brighton, it was great to see this place thriving as well!
Carlito Burrito is well worth a visit! Friendly staff, great atmosphere and hands down the tastiest Mexican food I've tasted yet in Brighton! Get there! Quickly!
Mexican food has become massively popular in Brighton recently and Carlito's is definitely one of my favourites. Cool, trendy and relaxed atmosphere with friendly service and really tasty Mexican food. I have eaten here 3 times now and tried different dishes each time. I think my favourite dish is the fish tacos but everything I have tried has been packed with flavour. If your especially hungry I would recommend getting a burrito as they are huge and very filling. I love to try different dishes and all the food can be served kind of tapas style so its great to get a few dishes to share.
Really great value for money and top notch unique cocktails (I love the hibiscus one). They don't take bookings and being a small place that's already very popular be prepared to wait for a table (it's worth it). On 2 occasions I have waited at the bar with a drink, actually one time we ate at the bar which was fine and we got to chat to the staff and see the cocktails being prepared. It is very relaxed and one time we did wait a while for our food but I didn't mind this at all. It kind of feels like your on holiday with the Mexican music playing and the funky decor!
Totally got over my fear of Mexican food. Fish tacos are twice as good as they sound, fishy, spicy, crunchy, finger food.
Service is friendly but food comes out when it's ready, so don't expect to eat at the same time as your mates.
Broad exciting choice yet a simple menu. Think of the Tacos like Tapas and share a Burrito as they are big.
Getting service was a little slow when we went but think they were a staff down.
No reservations. Just rock up and enjoy!
Legitimate Mexican food, so if you need a tasty burrito, delicious taco then look no further. Staff are very friendly and will do all that they can to accommodate and dietary needs. Homemade tortillas taste delicious with their guacamole, so would highly recommend this as a side order
Visited Carlito Burrito for dinner during a trip to Brighton. Am a huge fan of Mexican food and I would say this is possibly one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been too.
The staff are lovey, the margaritas are amazing and the food, WOW!
P.s. If you like oysters try the oyster shot
Had a takeaway from here on the way back from a show having not eaten all day. I had a chicken burrito with chorizo. It was pretty good. Not the best burrito I've had but definitely somewhere I'd pop into for a takeaway. It's a great location for that. As I understand it their eat in menu is more extensive, just their burritos on the to go menu. The burrito was massive and I only managed half before being defeated and feeling very full for a very long time after. I do have a small ish appetite but I hadn't eaten all day. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area
The best Margaritas in my eyes! The tamarind one is especially amazing. Excellent range of gluten free options, with home made corn tortillas and totopos, and tasty specials that pop up weekly. Vibrant atmosphere with a great choice of music! Definitely head down there if you get the chance, but I would book a table over the weekend as it gets busy :-)
Food was so so yummy and staff are friendly. But I guess they need to hire more people to be able to provide a better service.
We had tacos and they were delicious! But too small unfortunately, especially for it's price.
I was impressed by this place.
Not only the waiting team was cheerful and eager to explain their food.
I really liked the Michelada, probably the main reason why I went there in the first place. It was tasty and not too spicy, just right. I really recommend it.
The Nachos are simply it! Generous portion with original taste, very well done and served at the right temperature. A delight!
The burrito was good. I wanted to try the chorizo one but the waiter pointed out that in the heat it would have been a bit much. The chicken was tender and flavourful, teen rice was fresh together with the vegetables. Absolutely delicious.
I will come back for sure, and you should try it too.
Marvellous margs and tasty tacos in an intimate cinco de mayo setting.
Carlito Burrito has been on my "must visit" list for a good while now. After 5 years of saying I want to go, when a friend and her friend came to visit, I knew it was time.
Inside is a level of cool my home decor can only aspire too! Deep teals, a selection of skulls (real, wooden and decorated) and neon lighting adorn the walls. The seating is cushions and chairs
If you've had substandard Mexican food (and sadly there plenty, and yes I'm looking at you large chain beginning with a W, I have yet to set foot in a bell of the taco variety), then you need ti visit here to get a taste of it done right.
The banana blossom "fish" tacos were simply amazing. Generous portions of banana blossom woth just the right amount of slaw n sauce. The home made tortillas were pretty good too! My friends had very well enjoyed burritos, quesadillas, and beef tacos. Thr only complaint (from my child!) is that the beef tacos weren't spicy! However, it should be noted that this kid is a spice demon, so there probably is a little kick to it. I was particularly pleased to see not only good vegan options, but vegan options that didn't consist of an over processed meat substitution. It makes me think that the proprietor has really thought about the menu and the ingredients.
The booze! Well, in my humble opinion chilli salt rims should be law on a margarita, but with mezcal and chilli liquor? Basically marg heaven. This is an all out, hands down recommendation for the Fire and Earth Margarita. Hibiscus soda, fresh lemonade with mint and a hibiscus marg also went down well with the rest of the party.
Just a note for those of us with sensory processing challenges. Early on this, place is great, but as with many places, the more people are, the more different noises to process. The music and margs mean that this can get quite lively and intense. And absolutely no issues with the kid getting on with her activities or her questions on the food.
In the last week we have eaten from Carlito Burrito twice. And loved it both times. The first time we ordered because we had a 50% off discount and I had low expectations because ordering from a restaurant is never as good as dining in. Plus, with the half off there’s no reason for them not to give us half good food. And oh my god the food was amazing!!! It was still hot, fresh, and the portions were huge. They had done a great job at packing it too. Not soggy at all. The nachos are loaded with guacamole, cheese and refried beans. The chicken quesadilla was packed with veg, cheese AND meat. We got a pork burrito as well. And I ordered the fish tacos for myself. Everything was scrumptious.
Yesterday, my mum was visiting so I took her for dinner. The music is great, a bunch of pop and alt classics, mostly from the 90s/00s. The servers are super helpful and welcoming. We ordered:
• Life Changing Fish Tacos: 9/10. I had to order these again. They were indeed life-changing. The fish was cooked perfectly, it was crispy but also fresh. Goes perfectly with the pickled cabbage and salsa macha. Would be even better with some avocado or red onions.
• Chicken and Chorizo Tacos: 10/10. Huge chunks of chorizo with pulled chicken ik chipotle and tomato, basil aioli, salsa macha, pickled onions and avocado. Just amazing.
• Tacos Cochinita Pibil: 10/10. Slow cooked pulled pork marinated in achiote, lime and orange juice, ancho chile and pickled onions. The flavours are so well balanced. You can taste the orange but it’s not too much. The pork is so juicy.
Overall, wonderful atmosphere, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service is great. The only thing I wish they had is a specials menu so I could try something new once I’ve tried everything on the menu😅 I definitely recommend this place.
Had no plans for lunch but due to a delay in a meeting ended up here. Was greeted by a friendly Stephanie how seated us.
I loveeee corn on the cob in a Mexican restaurant and exactly ordered that.
Followed by Jackfruit burrito and mint lemonade.
The spices on the corn…uff.. I can still taste it!
The interiors are beautiful but what is even more beautiful is the hospitality. I love when people working at a restaurant genuinely feel for the food and place there and give a touching experience to the diners.
Amazing food and amazing place!
100% recommended.
We spent 40£ for a meal for two.
The best mexican in Brighton? Yep I think so. A combination of great food, the tacos were sooo good, and great atmosphere already tick lots of boxes. But, it's great because of the people. Amazing, friendly, funny, warm staff made it for us. A place we want to go back to every night if we could!
First Mexican restaurant and I don't think I can find better...Fresh, delicious food and cheerful waiters.
Carlito Burrito 🌯 convinced me for the name and for the atmosphere outside and inside! There was a nice service and the quality of the food was good even if I have to be honest I had better burritos than this one. Overall it was anyway a positive experience!
This place is on the long list of Brighton and Hove eateries I want to visit. Came here weekday lunch time and ordered the steak tacos. Average portion (3 tacos ) although I understand the others tacos are two pieces but bigger. The tacos were good. The rolled up smoked/grilled cheese was exquisite. The place is cool and edgy.
Really tasty burritos - I ordered jackfruit which I normally don't really like but I enjoyed this one immensely. It is a little messy to eat! Our waitress was so friendly. We went for a late lunch and walked past at dinner time and it was packed. Really cool atmosphere.
