Best chips I have ever had from a fish and chip shop. Didn’t have the fish but I hear it’s good. Lovely staff! Would recommend
If you don't fancy sitting on the beach for your fish and chips this little place is perfect. You can see the beach but you can also sit at a table. The food was lovely - we had the fish and chips and battered sausage. Not too oily and very crispy. We had a choice to sit in the shade or the sun.
Stopped here for lunch & thought it looked like a good spot. Food was pretty good, arguably I don’t think the chips were “chippy chips” but the fish was amazing. The lady that I’m assuming owns the business was lovely, couldn’t have done more, was so friendly. Unfortunately the chef let the experience down, screaming numbers angrily (which I can understand is frustrating if people don’t listen), shouting at people for moving the sauces because “they will get shut down if they’re moved.” The lady did try and make light of the situation but it was just a shame that you felt like you were being told off whilst enjoying your lunch
Very fresh and lovely fish with great chips and condiments. The fish had fantastic crispy beer batter and succulent cod inside and chips was nice and chunky served up with salt & vinegar- Nothing fake here!
Mama Fish was a great start to our day out in Brighton. The whole family enjoyed our lunch. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff whilst also observing COVID precautions. Absolutely Love this place- Would definitely return on our next trip!
Very good fish and chips, freshly fried and super warm! Seaside view and very nice service! Is it fancy? No. Is it good? Yes! Is it worth it? Absolutely!
The location is fantastic. Just on Brighton beach, very convenient.
The cod and chips were perfect. Good portion. Fresh flaky cod and perfectly crisp chips. I recommend the cod and chips here.
I only felt the price could have been a pound less and they closed earlier than 5. Since it’s going to be summer now, it will be a great option to keep it open till 7.

Just one little advice to make sure to dry the fish on a tissue before serving so it's less oily
Big portion of beer battered cod with chips was crispy, crunchy and tasty. Great find on the seafront.
Noisy in the evening but has a creative menu at lunch. Not cheap but you can ask, like the man sitting next to me, for a half portion. He had cod in batter with chunky hand cut chips. We ate creative veggie. Friendly service. At least the young man in charge, Chris, asked us if we were enjoying our meal. A very European approach! We will be back for lunch. I have been upstairs for a Meetup group and recall downstairs attracted a young noisy crowd but lunch time attracts all ages. In fact the old boy next to me with his regular cod and chips plus red wine was 78. He told me he came every day and spent £15 on 2 red wines and a half portion. Go go go!
Fresh, hot and really tasty. Only downside they had run out of mushy peas and you had to pay extra for tomato ketchup.
