Oh! Calcutta!

First time trying Oh Calcutta, we had a table for 4 booked on a Friday night. Initial thoughts on entering were that the restaurant looked quite simple and basic inside. Not a bad thing for me personally but for anyone craving real character to the restaurant I'm sure there are better options in Bristol. The staff were all really friendly and prompt in taking orders and serving the food. The menu choices were great and incredibly low prices! Actually had to double check at one point! Whilst the prices were really good I think this was reflected in the portion sizes, they weren't small but if you're arriving there really hungry I would definitely not be afraid to get a few extra dishes! That being said all of the food we ordered tasted really good and I had no complaints there at all. The restaurant has a "bring your own booze" policy so don't hesitate to stock up beforehand. Conveniently there is a shop right next door if needed! Overall a decent night with good food, definitely worth a shout if you're with friends and after a cheaper meal! I just would have liked slightly bigger portions because what I did order tasted really good!

We went to Oh Calcutta on quite a busy Saturday night. The staff were very friendly and prompt and we really enjoyed the lovely hospitality we received. The food was excellent. I had the red snapper which was cooked perfectly with a lovely sauce. My wife had a lamb dish which also smelled and tasted amazing. Will definitely be coming back again.

FOOD is in great portions and a good price, service is nice and food comes quickly, and the staff are honest on what they think is good and always have good recommendations 😀 thanks oh Calcutta, Will be back
