Staying in Brean while on holiday,searching for a chippy for an evening meal & found The Battered Fryer as the top rated chippy in the area.
Drove 4 miles to the chip shop, ordered a medium cod, large cod, regular portion of chips & 2 curry sauces - WOW the medium Cod was more like a large and the large was bloody huge. Batter was not greasy, so light and tasty. The fish was so fresh & full of flavour. Even the small Cod was a plate filler.
We ate here 3 times over our 8 day holiday & I'd rather drive a 10 mile round trip every time for fresh quality food as opposed to mediocre fish and chips that seem to be available everywhere else.
EVERYTHING was freshly cooked to order. Regular portion of chips fed a family of 3.

It is worth mentioning that they only accept cash and no card payments, but there are cash points locally. Parking down the side of Princess Street so only a minute walk or chance parking in Morrisons/Esso garage on the roundabout.
Well I must say the food is excellent always very clean never had a bad experience. Met a young lad working there last night only 16 name of Mathew,was cleaning work tops when serving up the food using hand sanadiser excellent to see this young lad to be keeping it so clean. Plus the young lady with long hair is always very pleasant and a good worker to always a pleasure to have food there. We'll done to the

Best fish and chips we've had in a long time and very reasonably priced. Really well worth a visit.
Wow, just bl**dy wow… by far the best fish and chips in Burnham… taste like fish ‘n’ chips used to taste back in the day when you’d get them well s&v in yesterday’s newspaper! Will not go anywhere else now…. Even my very fussy daughter eats it…. Portions are fabulous and the batter is so light! Give it a go, it is cash only though, but there is an ATM at the Esso station less than 200 yards away! Enjoy …. 😋
Most reviews were very good but because of the occasional hiccup I was a bit apprehensive. But fish and chips were cooked fresh and even though I was staying at Brean Down they were still piping hot and both fish and chips were delicious
Absolutely delicious! The chips and haddock were amazing. Definitely the best we have tasted. The fish melted in the mouth & the chips were so tasty. My 15 year old son even commented how nice the chips and battered sausage tasted.
They cook the fish fresh while you wait about 10 minutes well worth the wait always busy

The absolute best Fish & Chip shop in Burnham on Sea.. excellent service, tasty fish and chips and super friendly service!! Just make sure you take cash 😉.. my dad loved this place I do too..
Usually my go to chippy. However last night the fish was dry and tough round the edges. Hopefully better next time.
