Visited for the first time and was very surprised at the beautiful interior. Much better than you would expect from the outside. Erdinger on Draught in iced glasses was delicious

Really nice pub. Very friendly staff and a good choice of well kept ale.

To my shame I have lived 1/2 a mile away since 1996 & have not been inside the pub. I was walking my dog today at 4.00 pm ish & fancied a pint. A very pleasant bar person (can't say barmaid nowadays) served me with a pint of festival ale(about 5.3 abv if the memory hasn't let me down). As an ex publican I am very particular with praise of other publicans ales, this was spot on!!! I was only meaning to have the one when I spotted they sell Weisbier( can't remember the name). Having got a taste for this in Germany a good few years ago, I'd also got chatting to some regulars I obviously had to try it. Nectar !!!!! A proper old fashioned pub( in a nice way!). 5 stars isn't enough. I'll be going back. There's plenty more real ales to sample. Watch this space.

Really nice Ale House with a nice selection of guest ales 🍺. No noisy music or televisions in the back ground allowing you to put away mobile phones enjoy a pint or two whist partaking in that ancient art of conversation. I recommend you try it 😉

In Burton God said let there be beer. And God saw the beer, that it was good.
And in this pub there is good beer by the artisans of Burton Bridge Brewery who are Salsa's...
It has clean modern decor with rustic touches.
A worthy place to stop after some Viking bashing and you can hand in your cudgels to the landlord for safe keeping.

By chance, and third time lucky, we had lunch at The Alfred today as our two previous choices were closed. What a great find. Initially we were disappointed to find the pub was fully booked for lunch but the staff were able to find room for the six of us, what a relief. We each had the Sunday roast and it was lovely. Tasty hot food that was very much needed after a wedding party the previous evening. The pub is typical of a traditional style, no loud music or sports and we were given a warm greeting and great service. Highly recommended but best not leave it to chance and book in advance.

Used the Alfred years ago but not for a long long time.
But called in today to see some old friends and was surprised to see just how much it was so much improved in always. Beautiful pub and meals smelt beautiful.
Found the Festival a little bit moorish.
Very nice staff, really worth a visit.
