After a day out in nearby Bakewell and Derby, we came back to Buxton to try another restaurant for dinner. We didn't make any table bookings in advance, but was lucky that there were some tables available for non-reservations at the time (on Friday, 27th Jan at 6.30pm). We were greeted and seated promptly. Drinks and food menus were offered quickly and a complimentary jug of water was given without us asking. Which made us feel more welcoming and comfortable after a long day. There are a lot of choices for drinks (non- and alcoholic, hot and cold) and food (with vegetarian options). A pre-theatre set menu was also available. We chose the scallops & crayfish salad for starters and Ribeye steak with (extra cost) peppercorn sauce. The scallops were fresh, sweet and tender, as were our big Ribeye steaks - which were cooked perfectly to our request (medium cooked) - see photo. The music in the background was relaxing and not too loud, the decor was amusing - especially the French man mannequin at the entrance front door. We just couldn't resist taking a photo beside him! The toilets are located in the bar dining area, just around the main restaurant dining area. The tables are spaced out effectively so we don't feel crowded. The waitresses and floor manager are all very friendly and helpful. Service and food was excellent as were my mocktails, "feisty red head", which was pretty to look at as well as delicious and thirst quenching.

Can't rate highly enough. Called in on a rainy Tuesday evening with a wet dog and without a reservation. Even though the restaurant was busy the owner was warm and welcoming and found us a table immediately. Food was lovely as was the atmosphere. Definitely recommend 👌

My 1st visit but a lovely place to dine. The waitress was good at her job & dealt well with a very busy lunchtime. Food was delicious. Would definitely go back.

Five of us had an early evening meal here tonight. We chose from a menu of 2 or 3 courses especially for theatre goers. The service was excellent. Our young waitress was very attentive. The food was delicious. Starters of French onion soup and garlic mushrooms, main courses of beef bourginion, chicken and fish pie. We all agreed that each meal was very tasty. The mash was lovely, vegetables cooked al dente and the fish pie was chock full of chunky fish and mussels! Excellent meal. I only gave 3 stars for atmosphere as it was early (5.30- 7.00) and it wasn't particularly bustling however, I'm sure it would be lovely when it's busy. Highly recommended!

Great food and drinks in a fabulous French atmosphere. We sat next to two mannequins, that were quite interesting! All in all, an enjoyable experience.

What a fantastic find - the food was excellent in quality and value, very authentic French brasserie fayre. But the service was unexpectedly great - the maitre d’ found us a table when they were very busy and his attentiveness and charm, together with the efficient and friendly service from the waitresses made for a fantastic experience. Thank You!
