Tom's Bao Bao

The service was utterly unorganized during the noon peak hour, as various orders rushed in and the cashier had a hard time associating orders with corresponding customers (yes, they did not call numbers). The server seemed to be unable to differentiate hand-pulled or hand-cut noodles. Bao was unacceptably lukewarm. The space is small but is well lit.

We got the hand pulled noodles and the Chinese crepe. Both were a little bit too salty for me. The hand pulled noodles were great. The texture was right and the seasonings were well balanced other than the salt issue. The Chinese crepe is a fully stuffed dan bing which we thought was more of an Asian fusion. The skin had a great texture, the filings were... a lot. They also included American style hot dogs inside which have a very different flavor than Chinese style hot dogs. I would probably pass on the crepe.

If you've never had Bao, do yourself a favor and try Tom's. If you have had Bao, you've never had authentic Bao like Tom's. No oil is used and the Bao are steamed, meaning it's healthy. One Bao is a good snack, while 2 or 3 are equivalent to a meal. Seriously, it's amazing and hard to describe until you've tried it.
