Red Basil

My family and I went here for a nice Mother's Day dinner, and Red Basil really impressed me! The servers were so nice, and they weren't shy to help us. All of the employees who came out into the dining area helped us with our experience. The person at the front counter, checking people in and giving out people's take-out orders was very generous, and I heard her giving various people free pieces of food due to the wait (it was busy, but that's okay!). So, customer service is a huge, huge checkmark. Now, to the food. Oh my gosh, if you go here, please try the crispy duck! It was DELICIOUS! We got the orange sauce, and my brother, who hates trying new things, fell in love with it! It was like a fruity, pineapple-y sauce, so very tropical and had a sweet and tangy kick to it. The shrimps are amazing, chicken will never fail you here, and the vegetables were also done properly. I would recommend coming here, for sure!

New review from our attempt at dine in dinner on Wednesday June 1 My partner and I hadn't been in a long time so we decided to stop in. We were seated promptly however we then proceeded to wait 15 minutes and still no server had come up to our table to say hello. There was a server working that day but she just kept talking to the people who would come in to pickup their takeout orders. So I decided to go to the washroom and when I came back out my partner still had not been greeted by the waitress. At this point it has been 20 minutes, I was frustrated and hungry so we decided to leave the restaurant. The whole time we were waiting to be served the owners were sitting at one of the tables eating dinner not stepping in at all to help. The server that was working had very long hair not tied back and she kept touching her hair never washed her hands after touching her hair. Old review from 2020 is below The food was really fresh and quick. I left my first review 2 years ago but this place does not disappoint. I came here last week for take out and ate it by the river with my boyfriend. Everything tasted wonderful! Thanks for the great food.

Tried to send food back since it did not taste good, (had the veggie pad thai and it tasted like noodles with ketchup) and chef came out to confront me saying I ate entire dish (I had about 3-4 bites before giving up.) Entirely rude and poorly handled. Also the food was terrible, for a chef that claims to have 16 years experience, he definitely doesn't know how to cook pad thai.

Let's get to straight to the super star on their menu - THE DUCK! I've enjoyed everything I've tried on the menu, but I always go back to their incredible crispy duck with peanut sauce. The staff working at take-out counter are very nice. The food is consistently flavourful and fresh. It's been one of my favourite local spots since they first opened.
