I no longer live in Cardiff and would argue the thing I miss the most is Hellenic Eatery. I mean, it helps that I’m a massive Greek food fan (I’d probably take a job that paid in Tzatziki), but they get it so right here. It’s cheap (especially considering the piles of food you get) and I highly recommend sharing the Hellenic Platter.
A small eatery on a busy Cardiff street. There are loads of restaurants on the street but Hellenic does a good job of making sure good food and good service. Started with the the two Greek beer options mythos and fix. The veg options ordered were the veggie platter from mains, the Santorini salad and the I love Athens wrap. Good tasty food which packed a good flavour. The chicken wrap also was well done with perfectly cooked chicken.
The winner thought was the gyros Merida platter. Pita, salad and loads of pork shavings. Absolute heaven.
You will need to book a table as the restaurant is mostly full.
Do visit and have a good time.
We really wanted to have Lebanese food for dinner one night, but couldn't find a good place that was open. So we did the next best thing, went to a Greek restaurant.
This place is REALLY BUSY. We were given a waiting time of 1 hour, so I would highly recommend you call before coming.
The decor was basic but really cute and bright, in a homely way. The service was superb, the staff were really friendly, again in a homely way.
The food was exceptional. We started with a Tyrokafteri, which was very cheesy and full of flavour. For mains we ordered a chicken wrap and a The Hellenic Eatery wrap. While the chicken wrap was food, the Hellenic wrap was superb.
Overall if you want some great flavours and wholesome food, definateky try out this place.
I’ve got a hell of a lot of love for Hellenic food. When I was 18 years old, a lads’ trip to Faliraki involved me leaving the nightclub early every night to get to the kebab shop for a gyros fix. And, shortly after Mrs G and I started dating, a holiday to Crete consisted of moussaka, souvlaki, feta salad and Mythos beer interspersed with the odd bit of sunbathing. It’s therefore wonderful news that the recently opened Hellenic Eatery on Crwys Road is so good. The reassuringly concise menu focuses on grilled meats alongside a handful of salads and cheese based starters. Our party of five gave most of the starters a run for their money. Golden, crisp and salty halloumi was served atop superb warm pitta, which tasted as though it had been griddled in olive oil. At £3 it was a bargain too. A Greek salad (£4) with a generous amount of feta and a good dusting of oregano was as fresh as can be. Dakos (£3.30) transported me straight back to Crete. A crisp barley rusk was drizzled with olive oil, finely chopped tomatoes, crumbled feta and oregano. It was lush but not quite as good as the version I ate on holiday; it benefits from sitting around so the tomato juice soaks into the rusk. Lastly, grilled feta (£3) was delicious but the least impressive starter. A foil parcel of feta had been baked with tomato, gr
Super nice staff members. Food is delicious and portions are quite big. Really enjoyed my meal out.
Oh wow. Delicious grilled dishes and gorgeous dips. Thank you so much to the team after our work visit and catering for over 30 people. Well served, full of flavour and worked really well for our group. Would recommend without hesitation, especially for groups. Thank you team!
Lovely atmosphere . Lovely good . I wwnt for something that I felt I'd enjoy . Amd I did so..I had the gyros meal . Meat and veg in pitra type breads ..only thing I wish I ordered with it was a dip ..other means had dips . I'm unsure why this 1 didn't. Maybe as it was skewer type..
Decent amount I was full . Pints very reasonable compared to other venues.
Thanks
Wish I'd been here sooner. Food was lovely, staff couldn't be more friendly, welcoming and helpful. Excellent value. I will without doubt be back another time
Great chill place with friendly people. Highly attentive staff with a good attitude. Food was simple but good quality and well prepared. Prices are very reasonable (10-15£ each). Would definetely recommend visiting
The most beautiful Greek food. Always 10/10. The service is such a warm welcome, almost makes you feel like you’re home.
If you want fresh authentic Greek food, this is the place to come. The staff are brilliant and always go beyond. The service is good, prices are very reasonable and massive portion sizes. The owner is always on site, and most of the staff are family and friends, which makes the atmosphere friendly. The restaurant is well worth a visit....booking is a must at weekends as its very busy.
A Cathays go-to. Always know that I’ll have great and affordable food when I go here
One of my most favourite places for eating out. The food is always fresh and absolutely delicious, all the staff members are friendly, prompt and helpful.
I totally recommend it 🙂

We've been coming here for about 5 years, both before we married and now with our young children. We've always had a happy time there.
We really enjoy the food and we find it reasonably priced. The service is exceptionally friendly and it's obviously very popular as it's always been busy when we visited.
We hope they stay in business for a long time and keep doing the same thing as we enjoy how reliably good it is there ⭐
