Great to have the local pub open, serving food and a warm welcome. Visited twice in two days. Reduced menu running but still lovely choices and great service! Diolch o galon 👍🏼
Great place to spend a snowy evening! Staff worked wonders to keep everyone happy, fed and watered. Well done all! You are a credit to the village
This is a popular biker pub right in the heart of Whitchurch Village, a suburb of Cardiff. It's usually very busy with locals and bikers alike, and sometimes it can be hard to find a seat, especially in the summer.
It's popular for several reasons: firstly, its central village location makes it busy; secondly, it has a great atmosphere with a good mixed crowd of people; and thirdly, the food is pretty good - both for lighter snacks and full meals.
It's large, with several bars plus patio gardens at the front and the rear, and the bar serves Brains beers and guest ales.
Excellent pub in the centre of Whitchurch Village. have been on a number of nights out either as a starting point before moving on elsewhere or to stay in for the duration of the evening.
Food is excellent. Have been here for a number of lunches, both full meals and light lunch.
Drinks are reasonably priced and staff are friendly.
This pub has been recently refurbished to a very high standard, it definitely needed it, but now its a pleasure to go there, the clientele has moved a bit upmarket and the food is very good, although a change of menu every so often would be better. The Landlady and her husband are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We went there one night and were too late to order a meal and the Landlady brought us a huge plate of Chicken Pate and bread which was georgous and didn't charge us, needless to say, ever since then we have been going there regularly. The staff are extremely attractive and very friendly as well. Whitchurch Village needed an upmarket Pub and now they certainly have one.
The food is excellent, a very good standard. The staff are friendly. We've been a few times and sat at different tables, they all feel a bit sticky, seems like the varnish has perished!!

We booked the table to go in The Plough for Thursday night. The restaurant is behind you and goes through the pub. Went with my gym friends. We ordered some chicken and chorizo on flatbread, which looked quite nice, and I think it tasted good too. I ordered the same but with Halloumi, although mine was a bit too hard, so I was a little bit disappointed. Could do with the more sauce or something to go with it. The flat bread was really nice and soft. Some of the ladies ordered Gammon with peppercorn sauce, which was delicious.
In the end we ordered some desserts which were really nice. One of them ordered the chocolate dome where you pour the hot chocolate, and the covering reveals the dessert inside, which was nice. I ordered apple and cherry crumbed with custard very nice...looked like the custard was made from scratch came out nice and hot and fresh. Some of them ordered the chocolate brownie with ice cream, which was nice, too. In the end, we paid around £24 each, with the discount one of the ladies had. Overall, it was a good time and experience, but I would like to add that there needs to be more chicken and vegetarian dishes. Not all people eat fish or red meat.
We had some great food at a decent price. The atmosphere was lovely and we loved the decoration of the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and polite! Did an amazing job at making sure we were happy. Lovely pub to sit in! Chef did amazing, all the food was delicious we had the lasagne, gammon and 2 kids meals. Thank you for a lovely experience!
The only bad thing to say is the garnish never came in the drinks ordered and especially when you pay the high price for a gin you want the garnish too.
We popped in after my partner's mum had recommended the place and we weren't disappointed. I had the home made veggie kebab and sticky toffee pudding desert. Great service from Mike and delicious food. A great option if you're in Whitchurch, Cardiff
Booking on line was easy and straightforward. The welcome was polite, courteous and friendly. The staff were happy and always smiling and interacted well with myself and my 5 guests. The food was tasty and cooked as requested and we were always attended to for drinks and any other needs as requested. Just as we would have wished for and I have already recommended the Plough to other friends.
We love coming to our local after work restaurant. We always feel 'at home' and dogs are welcome, even our 'asbodoodle' It is the perfect place to relax after a busy day whether you just want a quiet glass of wine or you fancy a meal. Huge thank you for a fantastic evening as always - we will be back soon.
My friend and I had lunch there.
Very tasty food, comfortable setting.
The staff were very personable and the whole pub and toilets spotlessly clean. Will definitely use again
Amazing meal at the Plough tonight. The service from Mike was absolute exemplary and he is the definition of what service should be. Kind, friendly and accommodating, it was a pleasure!
Food was stunning and reasonably priced. Great to see it so busy on a Saturday night. This place is the number 1 venue in Whitchurch right now and I can see why, we will be back!
Such a lovely experience going for dinner with my family last night- we had exceptional food, with a good range of choice for veggies, and a great selection for kids. The staff were so welcoming and friendly: we were served by Lisa and Michael who took the time to chat to us and were so lovely with the children. We can’t wait to come back again!
The service was excellent, the waiters courteous and attentive. The surroundings pleasant and relaxing. The food was plentiful ,with a few tweaks , could be perfect. My pork was dry (pre sliced ?) The potatoes a little tough ,Lovely Yorkshire and fresh veg. The wine selection was good .
