We popped in the day before as we knew we had a large order. Advised to phone on the way in, which we did. Got there as the food was being packed. Really cheerful helpful staff. Would certainly recommend it to visitors and locals.
I recently visited the best fish and chip shop in Cardiff and I have to say, I was blown away by the quality of the food and the service. The fish was perfectly cooked, with a crispy batter and flaky, tender meat. The chips were also excellent - hot, crispy, and just the right amount of salt.
But what really stood out to me was the attention to detail and care that the staff put into each order. They were friendly and attentive, taking the time to ensure that each customer received their order just the way they wanted it.
The shop itself was clean and welcoming, with a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. And the prices were very reasonable for the high quality of the food and service.

Legends of the Fish & Chip world. We don't use them regularly, but it's great that they remain there, serving quick, hot, tasty and good value food - somewhere you can rely on whilst everything else changes. We usually just order fish and chips, but its because the chips are fluffy and delicious and the fish is cooked fresh. No fussing, no gimmicks.

We come every week with our student as Penylan Fish Bar is his favourite and it never dissapoints. Hussain and his colleague couldn't be nicer, always accommodating the wishes of their customers. The quality of the food is always super and at reasonable price. I would absolutely recommend this establishment. Thanks guys 😊
When I broke down near this shop, waiting 3 hours for the AA, the father assisted by letting me use their we and giving me water and food while I waited for the AA to arrive. Such friendship and care was much appreciated. PS the food was delicious. Thank you Penylan 👌👌👏👏👍👍👍💖💖
Owner asked whether I’d write a review when I’d eaten my meal - I said only if I liked it. Only the second time I’ve had a takeaway in over 10 years. The last time I had fish and chips was okay but decided it wasn’t for me but cod and chips I ate tonight might have turned me. My daughter agrees that the fish was excellent, as was the batter and the chips were great. Would buy again!
