Been here in different occasions and every time the meal is real tasty like the scampi, fish finger and soup are the best so far for me. The atmosphere is gorgeous because sometimes you can see horses outside and there's lots of greenery but also in the inside there's quite interesting pictures and it feels quite cozy.

Located outside Cardiff, is a hidden gem with breathtaking views and delicious cuisine. Whether you're looking for a memorable evening or a weekend escape, this charming establishment offers a captivating atmosphere, mouthwatering dishes, and a warm and welcoming experience.

Delicious food and drinks served to our table by Mikey, who was really polite and friendly. We used the scan the qr code. No queuing at the bar, brilliant.
Mikey didn't stop as it was a busy sunny Saturday lunchtime, as did the rest of the staff.
Well done all a 5 star from me and will be back!

Lovely place for food with great views. We had Sunday roast and the vegetarian option was pretty good. Nice and polite staff. Lots of parking spaces.

A wonderful setting overlooking Cardiff, with great service and lovely food. This visit was for Sunday lunch and did not disappoint. I had a trio of meats (beef, Turkey and pork) with the biggest Yorkshire I’ve seen! Plenty of sides and extra gravy provided when asked. Everyone agreed it was delicious. Dessert was outstanding-melting chocolate dome with brownie and ice cream-highly recommend a visit!

Got married here at the end of October this year.
Could not have picked a better venue. Situated in the countryside with stunning views of Cardiff.
The Barn room was perfect for a small wedding. Emma and her team worked hard to make sure the day ran flawlessly which it did.
Guests were very complimentary on the food. A beautiful place that helped make so many wonderful memories for us.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat. Although it was a quiet Thursday night, the service was good. I had a signature burger, which was enjoyable. The pub has a large outdoor area and large car park. We'll worth a visit.

Thank you so much for your help with my husband's surprise birthday drinks. The staff and management were super helpful and you made a real effort to make us feel welcome, including the children. We will definitely recommend and be back.

The setting here is stunning, especially outside where there is a lovely garden that's looking over Cardiff, it's beautiful. Unfortunately, I feel the food, whilst nice, was rather overpriced. The daytime set menu didn't look bad value but I had a main meal which was a kebab and didn't feel it was value for money (at all!) It was tasty though. I'll be back as I've been coming for years, but rarely eat here because it's quite pricey for a pub meal.

I visited yesterday afternoon with my daughter and her partner as I had been the night before for a private function and was so impressed. I was equally impressed yesterday! Ty Mawr is in a perfect setting with amazing views from the beautiful garden and terraces taking you from gentle countryside reaching to the city and eventually out to sea! Staff were instantly very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The meal was delicious and more than we could eat. I will definitely be returning with my husband and friends very soon and will be recommending to everyone 😁

My son was celebrating his 19th birthday and asked me if we could have a “pub lunch, somewhere different and with a view.”
It had been about 2 years since my last visit and immediately was my first choice. It was absolutely perfect. Lovely to sit out and dine, bar and waiting staff were polite and professional. Compliments to the chef on our food. It was timely, tasty and we were all satisfied. I have now been looking at the function room for a booking.
Thank you for a lovely experience and will recommend as well as visiting more often!

Very relaxed environment- quite a simple menu- food was hot and tasty- Staff were lovely and service was very good, although we did have to wait a while for our dessert.
We were seated by the fireplace , which is probably lovely in winter but without the fire glow the area was quite dark- it would benefit from more warm lighting to make it more welcoming.
That being said, it was a relaxing lunch to catch up with an old friend.

Friendly staff. Attentive and quick. Happy to help. Lovely greeting on the door too.
Nicely presented and tasty food.
Good portion sizes.
My only negative would be the toilets which could do with a refurb.
Dog friendly too which is a huge bonus

You were recommended by a friend recently and our family wanted to celebrate a wedding anniversary so thought we'd all try somewhere new.
You did not disappoint!!
Service was good.
Staff were attentive and food was great. Received hot and thoroughly enjoyable. We will most certainly be returning. Thank you.

Beautiful pub in a beautiful location. Have lived in Cardiff for 25 yrs- how is this the first time I've been here! Great food, beautiful location and enormous garden space with views overlooking the whole of Cardiff. Highly recommend the Posh Fish Finger sandwiches!👌

Both my husband and myself went for tea this evening with our two children and I have to say we were extremely disappointed. After waiting close to an hour for food even when the pub was not busy, it eventually came out cold. Cold chicken and burger served on cold plates with hot chips, I think our burger and chicken was cooked first and then left on the cold plate on the side whilst the chips were cooking. We won't be going back in a hurry, the only reason I gave two stars was because the bar staff agreed to deduct one of the meals but at no point during our meal did anyone come over to ask if everything was ok or once we had complained could the manageress even be bothered to come and speak to us and apologise. I dread to think what it would be like there if it was busy.

Really not a good place to go if you want a nice meal!
We had terrible food and service even tho the place was practically empty.
Food was freezing cold and tasted terrible. Some of our table didn’t receive a meal at all.
No explanation or apologies! No management on duty to raises our concerns with!
This place is a disgrace.

I am so disappointed with the service and overall experience at ty Mawr. It was my first, and will be my last. Firstly, it took us 25 minute to queue at the bar to order as there was only 1 person serving, the food then took an hour to come (I order a goats cheese, sweet potato, salad with grains/quinoa and added a salmon fillet) which arrived with no sweet potato, no grains and no goats cheese haha, just salad leaves, walnuts, beetroot and the salmon on top... which was £15. I asked where half of the ingredients were, the waitress apologised and said they must have forgotten and she could get me the rest of the salad...but it would take another 45 minutes. 1 hour 45 mins for a salad? No thanks.
The table was dirty with plates and glasses from previous customers, and throughout our meal, even when our food was served, these were not cleared..
overall. Terrible. Shame as the beer garden is in a nice setting.

If there was a zero star rating I'd give it. My husband booked a table for Friday evening (my birthday). We were shown to our table and drinks order taken. I wanted a J20 but was told that they didn't have those but they had something equivalent so I ordered that. My husband ordered a glass of Shiraz. About 10-15 minutes later a waiter came along to say they'd run out of Shiraz (at 7.45 on a Friday evening!) so he ordered a different drink. We couldn't get anyone's attention to order food, but eventually a young (and lovely) waitress came along to say that they didn't have J20s so was an equivalent ok: she wasn't aware we'd already had that conversation. We said we wanted to order food so she went off to get a tablet to take our order. When she came back, she warned us that we'd have to wait at least an hour after ordering to get starters so we walked out and are unlikely to come back. It used to be a lovely pub with great food but if a pub can't look after customers who have booked in advance then it needs to have some serious revision of its working practices.

Large queue to get a drink. Tables not cleared inside or outside. People in queue in front of us being told drinks and food not available that are on the menu! Lots of rubbish around outside. Sticky tables. Unable to shut door in toilet! Such a shame we used to come here regularly and it was a great pub

Beautiful pub, location brilliant.
Staff friendly enough but standard of service poor. Wrong drinks poured, food takes an age to deliver, the place was almost empty so no excuse that they were busy.
Food mediocre at best. Dont think I’d bother eating here again.
Shame really, it’s a goldmine.

Avoid this place like the plague!! The views may be beautiful but the awful service is just not worth it. We are still sat waiting for our pizza’s an hour and a half after arriving. One table has already cancelled their order. And another table have just got theirs 2 hours after arriving. Wow! Staff seem clueless and have no idea what’s happening!

So disappointed, came here this evening for a meal to celebrate my birthday with my family(14 people), waited 2 hours for our meal then only half the meals came out, most of the meals were returned to the kitchen because they were cold.
We eventually left and my 4 year old granddaughter never received her meal.
My birthday has been ruined!
Carol Phillips
The worst experience ever. 14 eating out for our daughters birthday. Took an hour to get starters which came out intermittently. Main meals all cold and three out of party never even got served food. Will never go there again
Charlotte Davies
Terrible food, microwaved and stone cold. Not even busy and waited over an hour. Seasonal veg consisted of 3 tiny pieces of broccoli. Nice staff, lovely setting. Sadly overpriced, sub standard food. Ripped off big time. £27 for what was essentially a £3.50 microwave meal. Won't be returning unfortunately.

Disappointing to say the least, the place was dirty, service slow and food average. We used to eat here a lot but in the past year or so it’s gone downhill, we won’t be back
Ashleigh Gillatt
Amazing looking place, scenery is beautiful. However, very disappointed in the customer service. Waited at the bar to get a drink for at least 10 minutes. After finally getting our drinks we found a table as no one was around to seat us. We then asked a member of staff if we could order our food to be told to go to the bar to order it while he went to another table to take an order. We then had to wait an hour for our food before calling someone over to ask what was taking so long, finally 10 minutes after we were told they where just finishing off cooking it when clearly they had forgotten to put the order through as they made obvious at the bar. In total we waiting an hour and a half for our food to then not be offered any cutlery. Definitely would NOT be visiting ty Mawr again, shame as the food turned out to be very nice.

S A Brain and Co - please explain what’s going on with this pub? It would be the jewel in your crown, beautiful building, wonderful location and grounds, amazing views.
However, the team here consistently fail to deliver - it really isn’t rocket science.
We went there yesterday for the ‘Cider and Sausage Festival’
Long waits to be served (apart from the cider bar) - actually nothing more than a table and some fridges with bottles and a few bag in box casks. Forty five minute wait for food, no table and glass clearance despite shortages of cutlery and glassware.
The sausage fest but was little more than a stressed on young woman on a domestic barbecue with long waits for hot dogs. £4.50 for one sausage in a bun also seemed a bit steep.
Please Brains - get a grip on this place, it’s such a shame.
Mark Stock
Awful today. ‘Service’ was non existent, we had to call for someone to take orders for lunch and dessert, food was lukewarm when it arrived. Wasn’t busy, so god knows what the staff were doing! Brains - you really need to sort this place out!
Beatriz Meireles
We visited Ty Mawr and had two beautiful steaks. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The views are spectacular, highly recommend a visit here.

I have to say I have never and I do mean NEVER been served such poor quality, unpalatable food!
The 'so called ' chef would not come out to discuss why he/she felt it acceptable to serve such substandard food.
Avoid at all costs. Beyond disappointing.
Yes they did the basic of a full refund on complaint but that does not excuse the food that was served.
