Howells Restaurant

It's a massive shame for the staff, Cardiff and the 'high street' in general. E-commerce is making its mark, on how people shop these days. Howells (Dingles and Jollies) was the premier dept store in Cardiff and have been shopping there for over 50years (we also had our 'wedding list' there too). Such a shame, but life goes on.

Came in to take advantage of the Closing Down sales! We were immensely pleased to discover a large variety of high-end designer goods at 50%+ discounts! We secured a few bags amongst other items in our scavenge around the store. Upon returning home I was disappointed to find my Valentino bag did not have a shoulder strap, and was virtually unusable without it. I took it back in the following morning to see if anything could be done. The gentleman behind the counter could not have been more helpful! He went and found another Valentino bag that was almost identical that had been put aside for damages, and took the strap from there to be used on my bag. I was so chuffed as I didn’t want to have to return it, and now it’s as good as new!

1st visit was a nightmare one of the sales assistants wearing a fake dior hoody thought she was better that everyone and I wanted a refund as the tshirt was faulty so I was entitled but not according her . Second visit was more helpful the womanswear manager was really nice and apologised for his staff for the visit before.

I called in yesterday to pick up a Click and Collect order on the second floor. The staff are so helpful here. It's a shame to see what once was such a vibrant, beautiful, bustling department store reduced to just a ghost of its former self. It really feels as though the heart has been ripped out of the store. Come on, House of Fraser! Don't give up on this stunning landmark department store in Cardiff....put some investment into it and make it a destination shop customers want to visit once again!

Not many of these stores left so its lovely to still have this experience lovely staff and a make up department to get advice, has a lot of designer brands with some good discounts. The only disappointment I found was if you order anything on line you have to return it by post because they will only offer you a credit note in the store, but then its different Purchasing in the store and returning it back to the store they will offer you your money back ! It Just doesn't make sense. Crazy!!
