Wow. We popped in for lunch today as we were in the area, it was already busy but the very friendly and helpful team squeezed us in, and boy are we glad they did!
Everything on the menu sounded great, but we weren't ready for a big meal so ordered a Croque Madame and French Dip from the smaller plates choices, and a portion of chunky chips just in case. Despite being clearly busy service was timely, and the food was superb. Portion sizes were good, particularly so in the case of the Croque, it was all bursting with flavour, even the chips were some of the best we have had anywhere.
If you are in the area I highly recommend giving it a go, if everything else is as good as the food we had you are in for a treat!

Food is always fantastic, Richard is an amazing chef. We both had the sirloin and it was cooked perfectly. Portions were decent too, we couldn't finish it all.

We stopped here on route to Edinburgh. Wow.... what a gem, what a find. No medicore food here. Childrens food, lovely chicken in Panko breadcrumbs, we had their sandwiches. Best pub lunch we have had in too many years to remember. Service was top notch too! Recommend 100%

Brilliant pub with amazing food and great staff. Never had a bad meal and I’ve been plenty of times over the years. I often book last minute for a few of us and Jo & team always manage to accommodate us so thank you!

I called up the restaurant to ask if they could surprise my dad with a birthday pudding, what they done was nothing short of amazing. They done as requested and it made my dads day. The lady (sorry I forgot her name but she will remember me) was absolutely amazing. The feedback of my dad about the food was amazing and we as a family will all be visiting again.

Never disappointed when going to the Crown and Thistle, food is absolutely beautiful everytime I go. Staff are very attentive and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I recommend to everyone!
