Lounge On The Green

I've had the pleasure of dining at several Michelin Starred restaurants and for the life of me I don't understand why this doesn't have one (yet!). The staff were amazing and informative, the restaurant was very tastefully decorated and a very pleasant atmosphere and finally the food was superb. We had the full tasting menu and it was excellent value, delicious food. Some interesting options, some more out there courses, which is the entire reason you go to somewhere like this! I very rarely dish out a 5 star rating but when somewhere is faultless what other option do you have??

Having heard such wonderful things (and seen wonderful pictures) I must admit that I arrived slightly worried that it wouldn't be able to meet our expectations. Incredibly, the experience somehow surpassed them. Every course was simply stunning, and would have been the highlight of any other meal. I've been fortunate enough to eat in many acclaimed and accomplished restaurants, but none have produced a menu as thoroughly and consistently fantastic as this. The love, expertise and prowess of all involved is apparent in every component of every dish. And the service was attentive, friendly and rightly proud. To pinpoint any particular dish would be impossible, but I must point out that the turnip, ginger and pear concoction took ingredients I thought I could never enjoy and made them the star of the meal. Also the biscuit and blue cheese granita was perhaps the greatest thing I've ever tasted. Our pictures honestly do not do them justice. An absolute gem of a restaurant, whose acclaim and reputation however lofty and deserved still seems not enough.

Lounge on the Green is a real gem - the food is stunning, the service fantastic and cannot rate it highly enough. This is a must if you want to treat yourself or someone special. It is my go to restaurant for any special occasion. They're also fantastic at providing a vegetarian version of their tasting menu, which is just as good as the meat version!! And happy to accommodate non-red drinkers, when the wine pairing is selected, and provide them with a suitable white wine for the course.

I took my wife, daughter and mother in law for a special treat on Mothering Sunday. Well what a fantastic time we had! This is a small unassuming restaurant that would not be misplaced if it was in central London rather than asleep village just outside Carlisle. It's an absolute gem. The food is well executed with precision and dexterity. We had five courses of sublime taste sensations; the beetroot dish being my favourite. The intensity and subtlety of flavours sets it apart from the mainstream. This is next level stuff! The service was efficient, warm and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. I cannot recommend this highly enough to customers or Michelin. This place is THAT good... wonderful!
