The visit to the Empire was limited to collecting a Takeaway but that did not prevent the food being up the high standard we have always enjoyed there. This will be the only time I have anything sour to say about the Empire. I was told by the great staff there the business is to permanently close in September. That is the saddest possible news for the Empire has for many years served up high quality food which, along with its close proximity to home,, never left us wanting. Their Chinese New Year Banquets have always been eagerly awaited and now they are to be no more. The saddest possible news!

Good Lunch menu for 7.5 or 5.5 The chicken satay starter and the lemon chicken as main are excellent.

Usually the Empire Food is great and their ribs are the best, however after last nights takeaway, we will give them a miss for a while, not a good takeaway. 2.1.20 - Following Tommy (owner) getting in touch we tried the Empire again and had a great meal - Thank you Good customer Service

Went last night, as always fantastic food, such a shame it will shut Monday night. As always Tommy you made us feel welcome as did the rest of your staff. Hope you will reopen again and we will see you again

I was last had something to eat here, was some thirty years ago when I used to stay in Danbury, I'm glad to say the food is just as great as I remembered. Even down to the spare ribs. Very welcoming as ever. I'm glad I took my family thier to try the food.

Wonderful lunch menu - with plates of food which were so tasty. I especially loved the sea bass, mushrooms, duck in pancakes and duck and lamb in lettuce. Noodle dishes and spicy sizzling beef - all beautiful. Toffee apples and banana with ice cream to finish - with an after eight chocolate with coffee before we found our good fortune in a cookie. My fortune was very wise. Hours of eating - where did the time go? Thank you all x

I have known the owner Tommy for 30 years and he has always produced consistent quality Chinese food. The service is very quick and the Empire spare ribs are fantastic. Keep up the good work Tommy. Dean Ketley

I moved to Chelmsford 16 years ago, tried so many Chinese restaurants and take aways and not one could do a decent sweet and sour! It was so bad I stopped ordering it because it was always so vinegar tasting. Only this week I came across Empire Palace and their sweet and sour Hong Kong style was perfect! The perfect balance and so moreish! I woke up the next day craving it... and the next... and the next.. and today we got it delivered and I was in heaven again!

Excellent food, cooked well and not greasy, unlike other Chinese restaurants. Service is to a high standard and very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
