Having been to Japan, my friends and I have a lust for authentic Japanese food. Living in Cheltenham we are fortunate to have a number of great Japanese restaurants. Yogan is no exception to this!
From the moment we entered to the moment we left we had a 5 star experience. The staff are friendly/helpful and the food is amazing. We will definitely return in future.
We went to Yogan's for the first time as we were visiting family in the area in our group of six. We decided to sample a variety of dishes - katafi prawns, dynamite roll and softshell crab were for me, personal highlights. Food quality was outstanding and well presented.
Amazing service - we were glad to try this, which was based upon word of mouth. Would recommend to anyone who is after a quality Japanese restaurant, the sushi is outstanding.

Love their skewers and the portion is generous. But the ramen is not authentic. The noodle they used for ramen is more like Chinese egg noodles instead of proper Japanese ramen, which is a shame.
First time visiting Yogan and I was not disappointed. The fact that they had Aircon in this heatwave was a bonus! There was a good ambiance, the staff were very welcoming and attentive, checking we had enough table water, drinks and that everything was ok with the food. The tables were spaced out nicely and the restaurant was very clean.
I had the crispy chilli squid to start and it was quite possibly the tastiest I've had. Really crispy with just the right amount of a kick. I also tried the BBQ gyoza which were delicious. I had chicken noodles for my main and the veg was cooked perfectly - I ate every morsel.
I would definitely go back and very much recommend.

From the very beginning the place felt special. Just walking up the stairs you feel like you are entering a nice restaurant. The dark walls, subdued lighting, table cloths, staff dressed in all black. Smart bar area makes the place look modern, showcasing unusual whiskey and gin bottles. The tables were sufficiently private and cosy. The food was delicious. We ordered monkfish and soft shell crab tempura, sea bass and tuna sashimi, vegetable starters including gioza, which was absolutely delicious, especially the coriander sauce. The champagne was perfectly chilled and delicious, plus affordable!!, which would put this place on my list of one of the top places to have a classy dinner for two or a small group for an elegant birthday party, without spending your week's wages. We loved the bar. The barman offered us Japanese whiskey cocktails, which tasted unique and delicious. The staff made us feel very welcome, special and offered their best wishes to me for my birthday celebration, making our experience there very special indeed. Definitely try it out, this place reminded me of a classy London establishment with a modern feel, friendly staf and privacy in a smart, subdued, stylish setting.
Food unbelievable. Cocktails delicious. Staff wonderful. Fully worth a visit!!
Cannot rate my experience at yogan high enough. The service was wonderful, probably the best I have had in the last year or two. The food was fantastic and the drinks topped off the perfect night what a perfect night.

Visited yogan for a quick dinner. Wasn't disappointed. The staff was friendly. The meal was simply excellent. Had chicken ramen whit miso soup and chicken karaage on the side. One of the best meals I had so far. Will definitely go back!
