The York Roast Co

Tried this place as the meat in the window looked fantastic and it really delivered! The ham was juicy and tender and the staff were helpful in checking if we wanted everything on the sandwich (my partner didn't want the sauce so this was great!). Its definitely worth getting the larger portion of meat too

*edit* I caved and got another york roast because i had intense roast cravings. To my delight the former glory seems to be back. I have now had about 5 york roasts since my bad review and all have been great. I am so happy and will continue to be a customer here for as long as this standard stays. The meat has been succulent and tasty, the veg cooked well and the yorkshire puddings on point. The portion sizes have been great, the food has been hot and all orders have been correct. I can't complain at all and I'm so excited that the rough patch is over and I can go back to having my roast cravings filled without having to spend hours cooking! *prev. one star review* York roast used to be my favourite place so I keep trying it even though it's been disappointing for a while. Today was really terrible. So to start we were given a wrap instead of a Yorkshire pudding meal. Then the portion size of the correct meal (turkey roast dinner) was terrible, 3 little potatoes and the tiniest scrap of very hard and incredibly dry turkey. The beans were somewhere between hard plastic and leather and totally inedible. It was all cold, I tried to eat the accidental wrap I was given as I was starving but it was awful, basically just a dry stuffing wrap with the occasional leathery bean, cold carrots and scrap of beef. Neither meal got eaten last a couple of bites which is such a shame and a waste. I miss getting a roast that was tasty and fulfilling - this will definitely be the last time I try again though, I am too disappointed.

Ordered 2 Yorkshire pudding wraps for me and my girlfriend mine was turkey and beef and my girlfriends was just beef honestly so amazing the meat was so tender and the turkey was far from dry loved every last bite staff was so friendly and amazing would recommend and will be coming again for sure thank you to The York roast co for an enjoyable stay

Friendly cheerful service, nice traditional food. I only got some small snacks for takeaway - a couple of mini Yorkshire puddings, two stuffing balls & gravy - which were nice. The full size Yorkshire puddings and meat look good. The roast potatoes look fabulous. You can get a giant Yorkshire pudding filled with meat (roast beef and other choices) and veg and gravy, or have it filled as a vegetables only option. This is a small takeaway with some inside seating in a lower ground back room down a few steps.
