Allan's Falafel

Allan’s is a really great restaurant and I go here pretty regularly. The food was always *exceptional* before their second location opened. Now it is very good, but doesn’t seem to be as fresh as it once was! The falafel the past several times seems like it has been sitting out for a bit, whereas before it was fresh and perfectly crispy on the outside. Again- the food is great, just not as amazing as it once was. All that said… their lentil soup is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I buy multiple large containers of it and eat it for lunch during the week. I wish I could find the recipe but everything I’ve found online just doesn’t replicate the incredible flavors of their soup! They take it off the menu during the summer… so get it while you can!

Last week was our first time dining at Allan's. Like other reviews shared, the portions were large, but our meal lacked flavor. I mean BLAND! I had to jazz up my leftovers for lunch. The location offered free on street parking and we noticed patrons picking up orders to go. The waitress, Keke, was nice and offered suggestions. And the decor was pleasing to the eye. But the food was a miss. We have no plans on returning anytime soon.

We ordered the Valentine’s Day to-go dinner and omigosh, it was so special! The food was so fresh and flavorful as always, but there were the sweetest touches: falafel in heart shapes! Spice oil in a heart on top of the hummus! I mean, really, this is what makes Alan’s such a treasure. And of course, a dinner for two is actually a meal for four; we’ll be enjoying this home cooked goodness again tonight. Thank you to all those hard working people in the kitchen (also the cleanest kitchens I’ve ever seen).

Loved this place. First time going and had a wonderful experience. The staff is lovely friendly, and attentive. I had the falafel pita, honey French fries, and the carrot juice. Price is very reasonable and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual sit down with a friend or family member. It feels peaceful inside.
