If you want a quiet, out of the way, tea or coffee drinking experience then look no further. Although a bit pricey you’ll know that the cost tends to keep the usual customers true to the experience of respectful quietness. There won’t be tables of noisy children here, much more likely those who are reading, writing a few emails or having an intimate tête-à-tête. If you are really fortunate the proprietor will serenade you on the piano, he encourages anyone with musical ability to play a tune or two, and on rare occasions a decent pianist may be present. A quirky building with plenty of hideaways over the three floors, a courtyard garden and great atmosphere. One of the best experience that ever changing Chichester currently offers. Highly recommended. ☕️ 🍰🎹💐

I have fallen in love with this coffee shop. A charming coffee shop in Chichester, especially in ambiance and décor. The staff were warm and friendly, and the food hearty and classic — homemade soups, toasties and cakes. Simplicity at its finest. I look forward to returning to my favourite coffee shop in Chichester!

Lovely coffee house with a homely vibe. The interior takes you back in time! The garden is inviting on a nice day. The pastry is yummy though a bit pricey.. Overall a relaxing, comfortable experience.

I only had an Americano at this lovely coffee house, but it was remarkable. Dark, hot and strong, just like it should be. The food smells delightful here, so I bet it is just as good. Staff is VERY polite. I like that. The setting is just as lovely as all the above, being a incredibly old house in its original state and a back garden that makes you feel calm and rejuvinated. Starbucks nor NERO has nothing on this thoroughly nice spot.

The St Martins Organic Coffee House is very traditional establishment with over 40 years of history and that's how it should be taken. The service, food and drinks are served in a classic way with focus on organic and homemade produce. The coffee house is a perfect spot for quiet coffee in the morning, however it can get busier at a lunch time.

A place where you are asked to please play the piano and where the wifi password is something like queen's birthday, tells everything about it! . Love the ambience, very cosy and warm, perfect place to think, read, have a chat, dp some work or just relax. . All products from cakes to the lentils soup, are delicious! And everything is organic! Recommended!

I really enjoy coming here with its Victorian style like settings and fire places. Plus, I like listening to anyone playing on the piano which makes my time there that much more enjoyable.

One of our favourite places, magical. Sadly it has fallen on tough times, but it keeps going, offering a very special and quiet place away from the noise and overcrowding at most coffee shops and cafes in Chichester. Wonderful garden when the weather gets warmer! When it’s not there are log fires in the huge old house where the cosy rooms cover several floors. Try it - you’ll love it!

I’m going to give this five stars rather than one because I’m actually glad we visited for the experience. This is a must do in Chichester. The red and green traffic lights at the entrance were only a hint if what to expect. Upon entering you’re immediately transported back to a world where everything was analogue. Perhaps somewhere Dickens might’ve been inspired over a Latte. Along the route to the food and drink counter you pass a bizarre protruding blue piece of leaf or fungus oddly framed. If you scan the dark corners you’ll be lucky to spot a missing section from the Bayeux Tapestry. Everywhere there are large laminated signs with orders, instructions and statements. The food and drink (we had coffees and a scone) are served in takeaway cups and well below par. The coffee is weak and the scones barely taste of much and far too moist and crumbly. Everything is organic which I commend, but it’s not great product even if it is prepared there (as pointed out by a laminated sign). Suddenly I felt a cold chill and glimpsed a strange shadow move furtively across the room. It turned out to be the owner forcing a couple of middle aged women to abruptly halt at his home made ‘Stop’ sign before being summoned into the depths. Bordering on rudeness they were much bemused. As were we. It was time for us to leave. We ignored the arrow on the reverse of the stop sign pointing to the ‘One Way’ exit. As an ex punk we made an anarchic exit through the entrance. I fear we may be blacklisted now!
